Here's a list of our mods atm and their background involvement and accountability/roles
@kingkongwaswrong - creator of sub, first owner, current go-to-mod for users to ping
@crensch - redundancy owner, mod of /v/protectvoat. Trying to fill the gaps and enforce the rules while we build up our mod team
@VictorSteinerDavion - mostly hands off redundancy owner.
@knowthyself - flair organiser, rule enforcer
@millenial_falcon - shill watch, rule enforcer. General @kevdude aggravator.
@numbchuck, @phobos_mothership - shill watch, rule enforcers
@melitica - investigative organization, flairs, potential megathread creation
@justiceforever - morale officer. Not a mod per se, but posts morale boosting stuff on Morale Monday. Important.
@heygeorge - css and design guy
@kevdude - not a mod per se, but is an objective third party making sure we avoid censorship and narrative hijacking. important. lead mod at /v/protectvoat
These will change, who knows. The more redundancy & extra hands we have, the more people can start to think of creative ways to help the community and organise intelligent things eg. maybe an effort to evaluate and set up voat alternatives in the case of a shut down, or writing weekly digests of info or something. who knows.
So far everyone's been great and I want to thank you all. Some of you already know I'm going to be phasing out my efforts soon, and I think we have a really nice team to take over. So be kind to each other & keep up the amazing work.
I'll be posting a sticky in the main sub soon letting everyone know about me leaving, about you guys & to ping you instead, and a link to this sub so people can see our moderation discussions + leave comments
#on owners & redundancy
We now have 3 owners from very different backgrounds. @kingkongwaswrong is a new account, @crensch is a known figure, mod of /v/protectvoat and fierce anti-censorship person, and @victorsteinerdavion is a long term member of the voat community with lots of lucid comments.
Three points of contact should mean the canary is any kind of moderator purging, esp mod purging. If there is any strange, unaccounted for behaviour, the rest of the group can do something about it, or say something.
Nothing is totally safe or secure, but hopefully this structure means there's no single point of failure.

We need to clean up the site - we have many issues off topic (violate rule #2) and I am driving new traffic here that will leave unless we focus.
These posts need to be bumped off pizzagate, especially the Top page, due to rule #2: https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1491567 (Assange POL) https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1491674 (call for a cleanup in this post) https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1491417 (birher issue) https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1490988 (Assange) https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1491008 (more Assange)

Can you guys help me with the title of my post (https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1490393)) linking here: http://www.cometpingpong.com/
Thanks.

Thx for keeping this running! Hopefully we see these children set free sooner rather than later and these demons abusing them behind bars.

Wanted to ask @melitica if it would be possible for us to get a few more specific flairs?
Just a few new flair ideas: Misleading (for piosts that don't blatantly break rule 2 or rule 3 and who are relevant but misleading) No sources posted suspected shill (ONLY for obvious shillposts) link relevant but disturbing (for our viewers with delicate eye-sensibilities)
Melitica ago
I think that flairs will need periodic review and refinement. We can only have 10 so take a look at current list and see which could be combined? I don't make those changes but I think everyone has been open to improvements. When you come up with your list refinement, post on pizzagatemods on the flair thread...and tag admin/mods so everyone will see and we can discuss.

Im a civilian here, but I think the most dangerous thing that is happening needs to be brought up. Promoting violence of any kind must be grounds for immediate something - up to you- but should be not tolerated. This group faces enough problems without shills and retards posting things about vigilante justice which might make it appear to outsiders or newcomers that everything they heard about angry racist gun toting crazies is true.
I ask that you consider this a priority in some meeting. thx!
VictorSteinerDavion ago
Violence is the last resort of a failed argument.
If you propose a wording for a rule to deal with this, the mod team can discuss it's inclusion.
My stance is that any call for violence is counter to the goals and should be derided whenever it is found.
We are all civilians here, without participation from the community, by the community, for the community; there is no community
Take part, suggest, argue - it is your voat given right to participate
VieBleu ago
Ok. thank you. I propose a rule that submissions or comments that promote vigilante justice and or violence are not tolerated. Every person using this forum is asked to engage with the originator if they run across this kind of content and ask them to modify it or take it down. If they do not do so upon being asked, or are not online, their content will be removed.
When asking someone to tone down or take down violent content, the suggested approach is to say something like "Content that promotes violence or vigilante justice is not tolerated among the pizzagate community. Please take that type of free speech to another venue."

@kingkongwaswrong banned me from v/pizzagate for posting the page I created in WikiNews, where we could summarise the story, saying it was spam: https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/PizzaGate
Without activity, it was an lame duck to be shot down. Now it's deleted as "hoax". And with the help of this mod. Very weird.
kingkongwaswrong ago
Whenever I went there the page content was empty, there was no content there. Sorry I didn't realise you were calling for US to populate it.
wisdomtooth ago
I was calling on PEOPLE to join ME in populating it. This is what COLLABORATION means.
How is an empty page motive for banning?? Not sure what YOUR motives are, sir. I'm glad to see you're out.
kingkongwaswrong ago
you kept reposting a link to an empty page and I don't think you were calling for collaboration... so in the flood of shill shit I was dealing with it just looked like another shill spamming trash. Sorry. Repeat spammers get banned as per rules.
Here's one of your posts - https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1442382 - with a title like that I would expect something other than a blank page. If you want people to join you, post it as a discussion link and explain what you're thinking. Otherwise it looks like spam
Isn't this just common sense?
wisdomtooth ago
Perhaps. It was my first post on voat. I'm not a user of reddit either.
Anyway, please unban me.

what username did I ban?

Have you considered it could have been a mistake?

S/he certainly didn't when s/he banned me on my very first post, no questions asked.
If it is, why am I still banned?

Thanks for the hard work.

I'll be really sad to see you go @kingkongwaswrong. It's unfortunate for the sub, but you gotta do what's best for you. Hopefully we can keep everything running as smoothly as before.
Millennial_Falcon ago
I have been doing so, at least for the most part. Will be sure to do so consistently. Thanks for advice.
Oh, I know.
Millennial_Falcon ago
@kingkongwaswrong
You've done a great job. Thanks for your efforts.
All, I think we need to start having a weekly disinformation thread, and I think it would be a good idea to start developing a "fact-check team." Otherwise, a lot of disinformation slips through the cracks due to the bystander effect (nobody fact-checking because they assume someone else did it), and due to people seeing the disinformation, but never seeing it with a "debunked" flair or hearing how it was debunked.

Also, for all the mods here now, and in the future:
You're all here because you see that this is a worthwhile cause to help facilitate. That's awesome, and you're awesome for volunteering to help.
You, and everyone on this list are very likely to be attacked from every side. Modding on Voat is not a glamorous job. It's not a privilege in any sense of the word. It is hard work - a constant tightrope walk.
I'll do what I can to help smooth things over should there be some upheaval targeting you, so please, please ping me there and I'll address it asap. Familiarize yourself with @kevdude and what he thinks about how things need to be, because he rarely makes mistakes about where the line should be. No matter how much it seems like he's attacking you, he's this sub's best friend, and one of the main reasons we can operate here relatively (seriously) unmolested by older PV goats with downvotes and pitchforks aplenty.
Don't take the attacks from older Voaters personally. We don't mince words, and it may sound unreasonably harsh to your (relatively) virgin sensibilities. Voaters have ground to protect, and if old goats see what we're doing as a threat to that, they're likely to attack us whether their position seems reasonable to us or not.
This will likely be the closest thing to a forum war from a defensive and seemingly unwinnable position you ever encounter. Every one of us is in danger of being destroyed. My 10k ccp won't save me if the natives get restless, it'll just take a day or two more to force this username into the negatives. Our position reminds me somewhat of this. (Just the first 10s)
The only payoff we're likely to get is when these fucking pedo elites are behind bars, and we can look back and see that some of those developments that helped put them there were brought to light thanks to our hard work. I, for one, don't think I could ever say the prize isn't worth the Cracker Jacks.
Crensch ago
Thanks for gathering us, KKWR. I don't know if you'll look back on all this as one of the best, or worst two weeks of your life, but I'm sure it'll be hard to forget either way.
The list of mods and their functions really does help a lot, as well... mostly to prevent me from stepping on toes when it looks like something needs done! (Also not sure how to use find/use the thread and ID #s to verify anything)
I know I, for one, wish you could stick around and continue being the face of the PG mod team, but IRL > all, so I wish you luck with whatever you're doing.
