@puttitout - I've made this proposal a couple of times in the past to both you and Atko, but alas, I never got a response. I will make this offer again. This time on your open post:

I have always agreed with your philosophy and the voat principles that are the foundation of what you have built.

As I stated in previous messages, I have no desire to change these fundamentals. My only goal is to provide material assistance with the hopes of being part of something bigger than the sum of the parts. Maybe, sometime in the future, there might be some tangible return on investment. Then again, if it is not in the cards, I would still consider it money well spent.

I would like to know what you see as your short and medium term goals. Is it to find sufficient funding to allow you to devote your full-time efforts to voat? Is it to have sufficient funding to cover hosting? Do you need development assistance, or other professional services? What I am really asking is; What are you looking for?

I want to help, and I have access to resources that could provide significant funding, and/or professional assistance.

If you are interested, please send me a PM, and I will provide hard contact information.

Voat needs three things:

  1. We need full time staff (limited but some key positions need filled).
  2. We need to address our scalability issues as this is our number one issue technologically (we've made major improvements but we are nowhere where we need to be).
  3. We need to have operation costs taken care of.

Ideally I was hoping for a one year investment to see how far we can get and then reassess at that time on any future commitment.

Serious inquiries can always be sent to [email protected]

You need to focus on cost reduction instead of scalability.

You have bigger problems.

  1. You need an actual BUSINESS PLAN. Everything I've seen so far seems half assed. Good programmers don't always make good business people. Consider prioritizing someone who is willing to work out how to

  2. You need to find backers who don't care that you host racist, homophobic, and general hate speech. I have long since stopped giving a shit about what people say or how they say it much like everyone else here, but let's face it. That's going to be very hard to sell. Most advertisers won't want anything to do with that. I don't think you can survive on donations alone - most people would probably kick in a few bucks but I don't think many will make regular contributions.

  3. Solve the first two problems and all your other concerns mostly go away. I don't think you can solve the first two problems without significantly changing what makes Voat what it is. I'd be very surprised if Voat is around much longer.

Voat needs three things: the removal of you criminal paid shills, here's a list of the main abusers to be removed the placement of good free-speech honoring people in voat's leadership once you and your cabal are gone, and a return to the transparency, no-censorship, no-behavioral-manipulation, community-participates-in-direction-building voat that it used to be before you shills took over.

Putt. In regards to the scaleability issues, there is considerable technological know-how on this site. I'm currently in the process of herding some cats goats into looking at the existing git repo, and seeing if we can rebuild your stack in a manner that readies the site for moving off azure onto cheaper platforms. We would appreciate any insight you might have https://voat.co/v/SavingVoat/1866511

The git repository for this site? You mean this one? https://github.com/voat/voat

There is a more recent one

but yes
