So, when was the last time you had a Flat-earther, high on his own confirmation bias and lack of knowledge of science, send you a youtube video of random bullshit designed to trigger an otherwise intelligent autist, and ask you to play the "calmly explain science to an idiot that thinks he's right" dance? Today was mine.
As someone that advocates that stupidity should indeed be painful, I'm very tempted to set up a contract for retards (Flat Earthers are a mere particularly annoying example) that want me to explain basic science to them: Every accurate explanation I give to a youtube video is tacit authorization to engage in 5 minutes of active combat with no pads or rules of engagement in exchange for the work I'm doing.
The reason being is that if you can't appeal to their (lack of) intellect, you can at least depend on any base animals's "pressure and release of pressure" mindset to kick-in after one or two good five-minute street fights where they've broken a bone or lost at least a tooth in order to counter-act the confirmation bias these videos prey on. Plus, I'd have a lot of fun watching someone stupid enjoy some physical pain as a response to their stupid, AND it would stop people from smugly repeating shit without doing a cursory google/duckduckgo/searx on the questions asked. So it might even be a win-win for everyone in society.
Would anyone be interested in such a contract template?

Well, similarly to the tests you've performed over the 5 miles or so, you could get your hands on a telescope and observe the planets visible with such devices. In doing so you may observe a rotation of said bodies on an axis as opposed to a flat spin. I personally can deduce from the curvature of the shadow on the moon that at least this celestial body is not flat and this is the most rudimentary of observations.
I've also flown in an aircraft at +/- 30,000 feet and observed a curved surface. While this may in fact have been an enclosed space where anything is possible, I think the simplest solution to any question is, in fact, the simplest. The windows were clear, my eyes were working, the earth appeared curved so for myself I've got a couple of clear indicators.
I hope you can determine what fits into your needs in regard to this and I commend your ability to determine things for yourself!

My statement was merely that, a statement. Your belief in any statement made by anyone is up to you and really, I didn't make the statement to sway you, merely to inform you of something I have been a part of. What you take away from that is on you.
You could, for instance, get a plane ticket, go anywhere, and prove me wrong by observing something different as this is how you have stated you are now viewing the world. Your flat out denial actually goes against what you've professed to have taken up as your new belief system of discarding everything everyone says and only rely on what you've tested. If something is untested it doesn't mean it's bullshit, it means it's unknown.
If you take an unknown and view it as such it remains this. Unknown. the five mile test you've embarked upon could have faulty parameters you've overlooked. To determine something is completely true or completely false based on only one observation might be considered well, sloppy. The best truths are of course able to be reproduced.
Here's a few more statements of opinion from yours truely hoping you have a good time embarking on redefining the world to parameters you can test! Suggestion, try a few simple ones to get a good framework, study the scientific method as this seems to create tests that will others will be able to test, and have fun!
As an aside, did you develop the 5 mile test yourself, or are you relying on a test created by another? This could go against your new philosophy unless you've verified the mathematics involved, tested the speed of light of the laser, or a myriad list of other things you've taken at face value to make your determinations. If you cherry pick the ideas and hold fast to ideals, you may have slipped into the realm of belief as opposed to observation.

Interesting question! I can only pull from others observations as I've been geographically located in an area roughly 800 miles in diameter most of my life.
From what I understand is it doesn't in fact point north, it points to an area somewhere in the north of Ontario, thus leading to the setting of declination of hand held magnetic compasses to get them to point north.
Take it as you like, the angles of declination work best on a hemisphere from what I understand.
