This has been an area of interest of mine for a long time, partly because I've been following this since October 2016 (and as a mod of v/pizzagate since November 2016 so I've got something of a birds-eye view) and have long thought an organized communication campaign was underway. I primarily see these specific events as connected:
July 2016 FBIAnon leaks on /pol/ Good summary with links here and here. As @Party1981 put it:

November 1, 2016 Steve Pieczenick releases his Silent Coup videos (1, 2) claiming Trump, Assange and whitehats prevented a full takeover of the government by globalist pedophiles
November 2, 2016 Gen. Flynn tweeted confirming key claims of Pieczenick and FBIAnon.
November 23, 2016, the day after Reddit banned the pizzagate sub, a mysterious user named @IamQ created a Voat account and made a couple of important submissions...a year before anyone had heard of QAnon. One of them was a massive imgur album created in 2013 titled "Pedowood Files".
October 28, 2017 Almost exactly a year after the FBI Records Vault and General Flynn tweets and the Pieczenik videos confirmed much of FBIAnon's initial leaks, QAnon showed up on /pol/ and started dropping breadcrumbs. He told anons the same thing as FBIAnon: research, document, spread the word, be ready for civil unrest.
When I zoom out and contemplate these happenings, I cannot help but see an organized campaign to push information to the public, to repeatedly engage the public in investigation and documentation, to predict things ahead of time and confirm them from independent accounts (Q/Trump tweets is similar to FBIAnon/FBI Records Vault tweets), etc.
