it seems like the sienfeld episode popularized 'coffee = sex' in the mainstram a bit earlier, it was aired in february 1991:

If "coffee" means sex, then I'd suggest that a lot of people don't know that.

"Would you like to come up ......" is quite clear, however. That's all that's needed.

What's even harder to believe is that any female would have anything whatsoever to do with George.
