As someone who uses Tor, please don't be fooled by thinking you're not traceable if you're using it on anything other than a virtual machine (VM) or Tails operating system. Windows users should be especially careful if they use it directly from their computer or even just run it from a flash drive as the Tor website suggests. If you don't want to read through Tor's site on how best to access their browser and stay private, I suggest consulting with a friend or family member who works in IT or is a computer expert. There are also a few good YouTube videos on how to access the deep web that you may want to watch before going this route. I'm in no way trying to make this option sound intimidating, but I do know that there is a misconception about the level of privacy you have when using Tor. There are plenty of horror stories out there about computers being compromised because the user didn't have a secure setup and I want everyone in here to be safe!

It depends what you click on. If you have noscript on, you are pretty much secure as long as you are not a literal retard.

If the NSA can bypass noscript with a zero day javascript exploit, they can definitely escape a VM.

That said I do agree, use a VM.
