I can't imagine voat isn't logging IP.
Strip the last octet to keep a user somewhat anonymous (1 out of 254ish) and use maxmind to get the country of origin. x.x.x.0-255 has to be announced in a geographic region, you can't break up BGP any smaller.
We can use this to find out who's got multiple accounts and ban them all for trolling / shilling and cross reference with GeoIP to see if there's any specific regions that seem to be a troll factory.
IE you might see 192.154.180.0 for 100 accounts and while that could be legit because there's ~250 unique IP addresses, it would be odd to see them all in /funny posting the same day. Or you might see the last 10 trolls in the mod log are on Amazon or Digital Ocean IP addresses or just all from UK on a given day.
Either way the information keeps the account anonymous but lets us determine if there's a collaboration to vote farm or shill topics and try to block and prevent it from reoccurring.

Go the fuck back to reddit with this bullshit. We're not trying to make it easier for janitors to delude themselves into believing things will be better if they take on the role of power-mod like they did over there. We don't even get that much spam so what's the point?

Would be great if voat had an age minimum.
Shills you dumb faggot. Maybe you want the suggestion box nothing but gamer ads and sKiNz?

If you think free speech is not the highest priority for voat then you dont belong here.
If you think mods should be empowered to make it easier for them to ban people they consider shills then you dont belong here.
If you think that voat is ip logging everyone then you need to learn more about voat. This is not reddit.
If you think anything significant can be accomplished by tracking or logging ip's for wrongthink shillposters then you need to learn more about technology. There are numerous ways around this.
Why dont you think before you post and take some accountability for your own laziness. You could easily have googled "HOW DOES I CHANGE IP??" but you didnt. Of course your response is to sarcastically comment that voat should change to be more accommodating to your incompetence.
This is a free speech site. There will always be shills, trolls, and shitposters. You deal with it the same way you deal with people you see waving signs on the street or knocking on your door trying to get you to vote for this or that: do not engage if you dont think they have anything to say that would interest you.

Confirmed you log by IP.
"Denied - Vote has already been registered (Comment Vote Identity 2.8)".
Create account-A and account-B, on separate devices, same network. UPvote some random comment with one account-A, see gray UPvote turn blue. Check post on account-B, see gray UPvote, try to UPvote and get error "Denied - Vote has already been registered (Comment Vote Identity 2.8)".

You're a dumb faggot to use this argument while we have moderators of any sort. Maybe seeing 1000 handles pop up under Israel, vote farming, and downvoting legit content doesn't interest you but its why I stopped going to reddit and just a matter of time before it effects voat.
I think when a mod does something all the facts about what's been done should be public. Showing dozens of handles being censored is easy to cry "they're like reddit" until you see the logs show all handles are the same ISP or region, then it's easy to think you shut down an operation.
When I see the source I'll audit it. For now the shit on github, linked in the footer, claims code hasn't been touched in a year, which means it's unlikely what's being run live.
What the fuck does googling "how do I change my ip" have to do with what I suggested? I know how internet providers work, I'm Cisco, Brocade, and Juniper certified. Hell I've started three ASN's and run a huge web-host. Doesn't matter what you fucking think google tells you, doesn't change the fact your ISP isn't giving you a new IP 'by request' and even if it did, it would be 1-2 times a year and still withing the /24 your first IP came from which would make my suggestion completely fucking valid.
What's you're expertise with all of this or am I arguing with a fucking 9th grader?

Mods are janitors. If you don't like it then go back to reddit.
