Lower IQ users on voat.co (I think of them as "normies") will downvote the facts below but...

Some blame the paranoid feeling when the site says "what did YOU do?" and think voat.co is blaming them and blocking them in timeout perhaps.

Over half the higher IQ people have possibly left voat, as such people actively flee perceived groups of "normies" in psychology papers and books covering high IQ.

That flight will always happen regardless without a regular influx of preferentially higher IQ people.

Voat.co is very high IQ now, but it was much higher, years ago.

Evidence?

I say it based solely on the actual scientists in the far past commenting in v/Science and the actual highly skilled engineers commenting in v/Technology in the far past.

The fleeing poindexters and smartypants creates a death spiral that chases off more and more eggheads.

It used to be called "MySpace" effect, or the "Digg" effect, and now termed the "Reddit" effect. High IQ people migrate to web sites offering higher intellectual discourse.

The_Donald exodus from Reddit to here could have quadrupled voat or far far more, but toxic attacks via gay male porn flooded v/TheDonald, and they went and created a "censoring" site 10 times larger than voat called https://thedonald.win/

v/QRV, v/GreatAwakening, and v/TheAwakening brought up IQ level a bunch, but it could have been more if less overall fights and cliques.

Toxic anti-Q anti-"boomer" anti-Trump rhetoric by disenchanters has its effect in killing voat too.

It is common among primates and humans to gang up and bond together tormenting chosen group members.

The relentless attacks on Q by older goats here is unwarranted, though sometimes funny in the NPC context this year.

A few of the older goats seem to enjoy antagonizing "QTards" "Boomers" "Political heads" "Qoomers" "Knowitalls" "Qfags" etc that were flooding into their formerly semi-static space.

A token tiny percentage of Q members on v/QRV could not handle "niggerfaggot" and "kike" but for all I know, they were voat false flag plants to draw anger towards Q. I myslef had Q subversive accounts created on standby.

v/milliondollarextreme came and then went, as other reddit failed migrations dwindled.

Well I hope everyone is happy with keeping voat.co smaller and stagnating... in fact SHRINKING!

What are ideas to get users to voat without accidentally letting any real world people know you use voat personally (doxx risk). Shill the link on other sites? Shill voat.co?

Who knows? All I know is the numbers in the charts do not lie. Voat.co lost 30% of its messages per day in one year of steady decline.

If voat.co keeps dying from high IQ people fleeing, and Share Blue invading, I dislike the other semi-free-speech sites enough, that I feel I will just read it for v/Funny and v/News posts, not comments, and hate the universe.

I've had an account since alpha. I barely comment since for the most part there is rarely anything worth commenting on. It's just the same low effort shit over and over again, and a good portion of it is easily shown to be wrong if you took two seconds to google it.

Also, even though it doesn't seem that hard to do, reaching the vote threshold to have an impact on the content is hard to reach when it seems like the vast majority of the content on here is propaganda and idiots posting 4chan level posts while missing the irony of 4chan.

So, might be entirely wrong here, but VOAT is super non-friendly to new users and most content is probably created and up-voated by people with alt-accounts and bots.

Content was sparse when it was in alpha and mainly consisted of voat circle jerks and people with stars in their eyes about getting in on a website when it first started, then the dregs of humanity started posting shit that was banned (and was illegal) on reddit for good reason. Most of the first wave probably left during this time since it was mostly a mix of people not liking sudden censorship and people who got banned from other sites for being degenerates. Judging by how the content created an environment in desperate need of moderation and censorship, it was the degenerates who stuck around until the ban.

I check here every once in a while to see how it is, but it just seems to lean more towards obvious shill accounts and low effort propaganda as people leave and are replaced by bots and conspiracy theory nutjobs.
