In 1967 Smith Corona Marchant (SCM) Corporation bought the Allied Paper Corporation for $33M

Logo of Allied Paper https://imgur.com/a/WzEdvES

The new paper-making division was named SCM Allied Paper.

In 1986, SCM was bought by Hanson plc, a British conglomerate, but they had no interest in the paper business, which was no longer as profitable as it had been in the past decades. .. All the mills were quickly put on sale.

Hanson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanson_(company)

Hanson Limited, formerly Hanson Trust plc, is a British based international building materials company, headquartered in Maidenhead. The company has been a subsidiary of the German company HeidelbergCement since August 2007.

Hanson was built up by James Hanson, later Lord Hanson, and Gordon White, later Baron White of Hull, who set up Hanson Trust in 1964.[1]

Hanson and White were willing to take a wide range of measures to do so, including mass redundancies, and therefore attracted opposition and accusations that they were asset strippers,[2] but from 1979 the company was successful from the shareholders' point of view and respected during the early 1980s, with Hanson (who gave millions of pounds to the Conservatives) admired by Margaret Thatcher.

One of the most notable takeovers, at least to the general public, was the acquisition in 1983 of the United Drapery Stores,[2] or UDS Group, which owned many of Britain's most well known high street clothes shops and department stores, including John Collier, Richard Shops and the chain of Allders department stores. To fund this purchase, Hanson broke up UDS and sold John Collier to a management buy out team, and Richard Shops to Habitat, keeping only the core department store business.

In January 1986, Hanson bought SCM, an American chemicals to typewriters business. This included the paper division that was formerly the Allied Paper Corporation. Hanson sold most of the SCM business units and the headquarters building in New York City for a significant profit.

Brian (Karin) McMahon of Santa Fe

Santa Fe? ..

Brian McMahon is Vice Chairman of Thornburg Investment Management Inc- https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/company/3880430Z:US

https://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_news/former-exec-fired-over-email-searches-sues-thornburg-investment-management/article_4a26bb53-87ef-55db-9824-591087261105.html

The House Thornburg Lost https://www.sfreporter.com/news/coverstories/2009/04/08/the-house-thornburg-lost/ (2009)

At his top, Thornburg's jet landed in Paris; he fished in Patagonia. Newspapers called him a genius. Charities honored him as a "treasured citizen." Politicians paid respect to a man whose business they may not have understood, except to the extent that it was successful.

Thornburg's empire was built on his grasp of both market trends and government regulations. Then the ground moved. Last week, after 14 years of growth and two years on life support, Thornburg Mortgage announced its bankruptcy. The word came on April Fools' Day. Nobody laughed. Two days later, the company laid off 130 of 150 employees.

“Here’s this guy, a Harvard Business School alumni: Why in the hell did he come to Santa Fe, New Mexico to start up an investment and real estate company? He expected to become—and he did—a big fish in a small pond. That’s a peculiar kind of person. That’s a personality profile that leads people to think they’re the master of the universe,” Patrick Collins, a retired Wall Streeter who campaigned against Thornburg’s new Ridgetop Road headquarters, says.

[Somehow he missed the Epstein Zorro ranch connection, but I digress..]

He graduated Harvard Business School—the tycoons' training ground—in 1970. Thornburg's classmates included George W Bush's treasury secretary, Hank Paulson, who devised last year's $700 billion bank bailout.

Out of Harvard, Thornburg didn't follow his peers to Wall Street. He went to Jamaica, where, with US government financing, he developed a 311-unit housing project... In December 1971, still in Jamaica, Thornburg married Inger Jirby, an artist from northern Sweden, who speaks seven languages. She now runs a gallery in Taos.

When the couple left the West Indies, Thornburg tried his hand at banking in London, then real estate in New York City. He failed. "I was probably the first Harvard MBA to be on unemployment," Thornburg told New Mexico Business Weekly in 2006.

He rebounded with a position at what is now the Empire State Development Corporation. There, Thornburg worked on financing to turn the old Commodore Hotel into the Grand Hyatt—one of Donald Trump's early real estate splashes.

It's a long article.. you can read the rest at the link.

Turning to Taos to look for Inger Jirby..

Inger has many friends. One of them is RC Gorman https://imgur.com/a/uwMmmbr

From this post by @think- https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/3374995/20100143

Bill Richardson has been accused of raping boys at the parties pedo artist RC Gorman threw in his home in Taos, New Mexico.

Gorman has been accused of having trafficked and raped several boys, the Albuquerque PD also investigated him when a 11-year-old boy was found hanging from a tree. He was never charged though.

He settled with several of his victims out of court.

Gorman was gay, and his partner Scott B. Po(l)land, who was director of Gorman's Navajo Art Gallery in Taos, was a convicted pedophile.

The FBI investigated Gorman, and found evidence that he raped boys, but didn't charge him in the end, allegedly due to the statute of limitations.

@think- See parent. This whole post is difficult to follow because I was just doing a data dump here while I went down this Tom Hanks Smith Corona typewriter rabbit hole. In short, the CEO of that company was an economic advisor to Presidents Reagan and Bush Sr.In addition, the company is linked to a series of other companies in the retail (eg Bobbie Brooks) and transportation sectors and which seem to connect to Bain & Co. and other CIA sources, as well as Les Wexner and thence Epstein network. The lawyer for Bobbie Brooks was the father of a judge linked to the Epstein case.

There's more... Taos, here I come...

So, Pubco Corp owns the "Bobbie Brooks" trademarks which are licensed through Garan, Inc

BOBBIE BROOKS, INC. https://case.edu/ech/articles/b/bobbie-brooks-inc

BOBBIE BROOKS, INC., a leader in the production of women's apparel, was established by MAURICE SALTZMAN and Max Reiter as Ritmore Sportswear, Inc. in a loft in the Bradley Bldg. on W. 6th St. in 1939. Beginning with a $3,000 investment, they built the company into a multi-million dollar operation within the next 15 years.

Maurice Saltzman https://case.edu/ech/articles/s/saltzman-maurice

SALTZMAN, MAURICE (25 May 1918-21 Jan. 1990), businessman, civic leader, and philanthropist in Cleveland and Israel, received the Human Relations Award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews (1966) and the Charles Eisenman Award from the JEWISH COMMUNITY FEDERATION (1974). A "zillionaire" by age 48, Saltzman, born in Cleveland, was orphaned at age 4 and lived at the Jewish Orphan Home (BELLEFAIRE) until he graduated from CLEVELAND HEIGHTS High School at 16. He worked in the shipping room of Lampl Fashions, Inc. for 5 years, when he and Max Reiter founded Ritmore Sportswear, which later became BOBBIE BROOKS, INC.

His philanthropy soon reflected his business success: between 1941 and 1966, he and his wife donated more than $2.5 million to institutions such as MT. SINAI MEDICAL CENTER and the University of Notre Dame. Saltzman led the dress company until 1987. He maintained a life-long relationship with Bellefaire, serving as benefactor and honorary trustee and hiring student employees. Among many community activities, he was founder trustee for life of the CLEVELAND JEWISH NEWS, vice-president of TEMPLE EMANU EL, president of both the Jewish Community Federation and Mt. Sinai Medical Center (1976-79), and a trustee of the University Circle Development Foundation, Inc. (predecessor of UNIVERSITY CIRCLE, INC.), Brandeis University and CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY, among other institutions. In Israel, he established a senior citizen center, a library and a museum.

Saltzman married his secretary, Shirley Rosenberg, in 1944; they had three daughters, Lorrie Fromson, Judith Bea-Taylor, and Terry Saltzman. Saltzman died in Palm Beach, FL.

Garan, Inc. History http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/garan-inc-history/

Garan, Inc., is engaged in the design, manufacture, and sale of men's, women's, and children's apparel under the Garanimals, Garan, Bobbie Brooks, and private label names. Most of Garan's output is sold to mass merchandisers, major national chain stores, department stores, and specialty stores. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. accounts for over 85 percent of company sales, while nearly 10 percent of sales stem from the company's relationship with JC Penney Company Inc. Garan was acquired by Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. in 2002.

..By 1992, burgeoning Wal-Mart was accounting for 45 percent of Garan's annual sales. A licensing agreement in 1990 gave Garan the right to carry the insignias of various colleges and universities on sweatshirts and knit shirts. In 1991, it became one of the few apparel companies allowed to use characters from Disney movies. After a strong first quarter in fiscal 1992, Garan, holding $30 million in cash with virtually no debt, declared a $1.20-per-share annual dividend on top of the quarterly payout. During 1988-92, the company earned an annual average of almost 18 percent on equity.

.During fiscal 1995, children's apparel accounted for 72 percent of Garan's net sales, with women's apparel accounting for 18 percent and men's apparel accounting for 10 percent. Sales of sports and colleges licensed apparel accounted for about 12 percent of sales and Garan's own label accounted for about 6 percent. The Bobbie Brooks label accounted for another 7 percent, and Disney characters, scenes, and logos accounted for about 8 percent. In addition to Wal-Mart, JC Penney was an important customer that provided 20 percent of Garan's sales. Some 3,500 or so clients took the rest of the company's output.

Ohio Eastern Express Inc in Sandusky, Ohio is another client of his: https://imgur.com/a/HSoPmdm

The owner is John H. Waldock: http://www.mycarpro.org/Trucking-Company/John-Waldock-Ohio-Eastern-Express/

An obituary from 2019: https://www.grofffuneralhomes.com/obituaries/John-Jack-Henry-Waldock-Sr?obId=7012055

John Henry Waldock Sr. 90, of Huron, passed away September 1, 2019 at his home, after a lengthy illness... John, known to friends as “Jack”, was the valedictorian of the 1946 graduating class of Sandusky High School. As a senior he was co-editor of the yearbook The Fram.

Jack graduated from The Ohio State University College of Agriculture, Summa Cum Laude in 1950. While at Ohio State he was a member of the intercollegiate livestock and meats judging team. Jack worked with the student government in an effort to have a small amount charged to each student’s fees to create the Ohio Union--- the predecessor of the Ohio Union today. He also was awarded the Red Cole trophy for most outstanding student in meats work.

After college Jack returned to work at his family’s then 140 year business, The Waldock Packing Company. In 1957 he started Waldock Brokerage. In 1958 he founded Selection Inc. which became the largest broker of meat type hogs in the United States. In 1960 he and his brother William Waldock started a trucking company, Ohio Eastern Express in order to assure the transport of his meat products. Selected Meat Company was also started in 1960. He purchased his family’s business in 1962.

Jack became a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in 1965, and in 1967 a member of the Chicago Board of Trade. In 1968 he and his brother William Waldock purchased Collins Packing Company in southern Ohio becoming the largest pork slaughter in Ohio.

In 1969 Jack and Barry Lind founded Lind-Waldock & Company. They became the largest discount commodities brokerage in the world. It was this achievement that Jack considered to be the most exciting time and defining moment of his career. Jack was later elected to the board of directors of the American Meat Institute and was chairman of the provision committee. Lind-Waldock was sold in 2000. Jack remained an active commodities trader until retirement. Jack served on the Board of Directors of Firelands Regional Medical Center for over 25 years.

In addition to his work ethic, Jack had two passions, golf and fishing. He gave 100% to each. Jack considered Lake Erie to be a valuable but endangered resource to the state of Ohio. Working in conjunction with The Ohio State University he was named chair of the Northern Ohio Sea Grant Advisory Committee in 1981 and held that position until 1992, when he was named to the Directors Advisory Council. Jack created the first Congressional Day on Lake Erie.

Jack remained active with members of The Ohio State University faculty. In 1999 he was awarded the Don L Heinlin Award, given to alumni who have worked tirelessly advocating the interests of The Ohio State University.

Jack attacked golf with equal enthusiasm shown in business and Lake Erie. Jack was a member of Plum Brook Country Club in Sandusky, The Forest in Ft. Myers, Florida and Quail West in Naples, Florida. He won his first club championship in 1953 at PBCC and his last of 15 club championships in 1997, thus spanning 5 consecutive decades. As a matter of personal pride he won the 1962 Sandusky City Golf Open Championship.

Jack served as president of Plum Brook Country Club and held other positions on the Board of Directors. Jack, along with George Mateyo of Cleveland, created the Ohio Golf Hall of Fame Senior Tournament, which was pro-am. In 1992 it became the Hall of Fame Tournament; its purpose was to be a way to honor native Ohioans who have contributed to the game of golf.

This must be his grandson John Henry Waldock III https://imgur.com/a/Z6r7g1l

Pubco History: http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/pubco-corporation-history/

..Under the direction of Robert Kanner, who acquired a majority stake in Pubco in 1983, the company began to resemble an investment house.

..Pubco was founded in 1958 as Publishers Company Inc., a Washington, D.C., firm that published and sold encyclopedias, Bibles, and devotional books door-to-door. After just two years in business, the company made the first of a string of acquisitions, adding Massachusetts' Books, Inc., in 1960. The 1962 additions of Kaufman Printing, Inc., and Merkle Press Inc. gave the budding conglomerate expertise in virtually every facet of the publishing business, from editing to printing to distribution. Publishers' top executives, President Charles W. Lockyer and Chairman E. A. Merkle, brought more than a dozen companies, most of which were involved in printing and publishing, into the fold over the course of the decade. Most significant of these were Buxton & Skinner Printing Company, a label printer in St. Louis whose customers included brewing giant Anheuser-Busch Company, Inc.; Redson Rice Corp., a Chicago-based printer of direct mailers and catalogs; and Tabard Press Corp., a New York City company that specialized in time-sensitive projects like periodicals and annual reports. These acquisitions propelled Publishers' sales from $15.5 million in 1963 to nearly $45 million by 1969, while profits burgeoned from $82,000 to more than $1 million during the period.

The company also dabbled in some extraneous businesses in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1968, for example, it formed Publishers Broadcasting Corp. (later renamed Camptown Industries, Inc.). This affiliate owned and operated a Florida campground, four radio stations, a sports facility, and an ice plant. Publishers Company's 1973 name change to Pubco Corp. may have reflected the firm's unusual diversification.
