Really not a lot of info at all about Manish Shah, there. What does stand out, though, is the company overview of 123Jump.Com, Inc. from bloomberg - really sounds right up the Awan alley with regards to online aggregation of data; social media monitoring, Zuckerberg, Cambridge Analytica, "AI", Uber/Otto, etc...

Let's try to learn more about Manish Shah:

I figured I'd try google even though I don't have a middle-name initial to work with... interesting results came up, though, the following result is not the Manish Shah of 123Jump.Com, Inc.

Although not a match, a result which sticks out glaringly is with regards to a Dr. Manish Shah, of Romford, UK:

[23. https://www.ibbclaims.co.uk/site/services/child-abuse-and-trafficking/child-abuse-at-hospitals/dr-manish-shah/ | https://archive.is/zbnK7]:

Unfortunately, ibbclaims does not cooperate very well with archive.is,the article is short though and text is as follows:

Dr Manish Shah

Dr Manish Shah, of Romford, is accused of 66 assaults by penetration, 52 sexual assaults and one sexual assault of a child, according to the Metropolitan Police.

We are supporting a number of victims of alleged abuse by Dr Manish Shah, at a surgery in East London, to obtain justice and compensation for the abuse and trauma they claim to have suffered.

If you were a patient of Dr Shah or if you worked with him during this period, you could be in a position to help a victim obtain the compensation they deserve and that could help them recover from the alleged abuse.

Here's a source that helps confirm that a Dr Manish Shah of Romford, has been accused of sexual assault:

Dr Manish Shah appears in court to deny 118 sex abuse charges

Emma Robinson | Reporter

A FAMILY planning doctor has denied carrying out 118 sex assaults, including one against a girl under 13.

Dr Manish Shah, 47, is a partner at the North Avenue Surgery, in North Avenue, Southend, where he specialised in family planning.

Shah appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court yesterday. He spoke only to confirm his name and address and to indicate a not guilty plea.

He will make a further appearance at the court on November 10 when a trial date will be set.

Shah is facing allegations that he assaulted 54 different victims at a surgery in Romford between 2004 and 2013.~~

~~The most recent Care Quality Commission inspection of the surgery in 2015 found it was “good” and there were no concerns about patient safety. It noted that Shah was a partner although he could not practice.

A spokesman for the General Medical Council said: “We do not comment on ongoing investigations.

“Dr Manish Shah had conditions placed on his practice in 2013 preventing him from seeing female patients alone, and was suspended from the register in 2014.”

Eerie coincidence, though again, this isn't the person involved with 123Jump.Com, Inc.

Traffic Analysis Made Simple

May 15, 2006 | JEFF ZBAR BIZ TECH

Manish Shah liked how much traffic his Web site host said his four sites were attracting each month. But he was concerned the figure -- 2 million hits -- was inflated.

So in February, Shah signed up to test VisiStats.com, an online service that tracks Web site traffic. The service reported that more than 90 percent of the 2 million figure were from Internet search engine "robots," which crawl the Web looking for content.

"Those hits have no commercial value," said Shah, CEO of 123Jump.com, the Miami Beach-based owner of four financial market portal sites. "Obviously our page count on the ISP-based traffic analyzer is higher, but the page count we can sell on is much lower. This is the biggest determining factor for a content publisher."

As bloggers and Web site creators post content, advertisers want to know who's actually visiting. For years, site owners have relied on a variety of sites to track traffic, like DoubleClick, Google Analytics, WebTrends and Omniture. Yet many Web hosts' traffic analyzer software don't discern between traffic derived from Internet browsers or actual users, and traffic resulting from search engine robots.~~

~~Site analytic services today are priced right for small to medium businesses. Shah's paying around $30 a month for each site, with the price contracted to rise as traffic grows, he said. It's also user friendly. The service will e-mail daily summaries of page views, and Shah and his team can log on to track specific visitor information.

"The combination of benefits was a good value proposition for us," he said.

Shah's revenue model is based on selling online advertising. Understanding his site's reach, user appeal and numbers can help him decide what type of new content to create and post, and with what sites to partner for link exchanges or advertising purposes. Anytime Shah or an employee proposes adding to their sites' 45 content areas, they can post the site, and at month's end, test traffic flow to see how well the content was received.

The analysis also helps Shah justify new hires. Recently, two of his content teams, one focusing on market updates, the other on earnings calls, were vying for new personnel to grow their department's content. Shah and his people tracked traffic, and determined that the earnings call content area was generating 90 percent of all new traffic over the past two months.

"This tech will give us the competitive edge in the market," he said.

Wit Capital Jumps After Deal to Buy SoundView

The deal, which is expected to be completed in January, will more than double Wit's investment banking and equity research resources to over 100 people, and the number of companies covered will exceed 200.

By Carolyn Koo

Nov 1, 1999 11:07 AM EST

Wit Capital Group ( WITC) today announced it will acquire SoundView Technology Group, an investment banking boutique, for stock valued at $320 million, in a deal aimed at expanding Wit's Internet research and investment banking capabilities.

Under the terms of the deal, Wit, the on-line investment banking firm, will issue new common shares and options to acquire 100% of the closely held SoundView, a Connecticut-based firm that focuses exclusively on technology companies. The $320 million price tag is based on Wit Capital's closing price of 17 9/16 on Friday.

Investors cheered the news. Shares of Wit jumped 5, or 29%, to 22 9/16 by midmorning. The stock is down from its high of 38 because of fears of slowing growth for on-line brokers back in July, according to Manish Shah, editor of ipomaven.com and 123jump.com, two financial analysis Web sites. The stock closed today up 4 13/16 to 22 3/8.

"This transaction represents a major milestone in the ongoing evolution of Wit Capital," Ron Readmon, Wit Capital's co-chief executive, said in a statement. "We truly believe this merger will propel our model of Internet-based capital formation to a new level."

Wit Capital has made its name by offering on-line access to initial public offerings and other securities to retail investors, most of whom are usually locked out of such deals. Competition with well-capitalized Wall Street firms is fierce, however, and acquisitions like this one are seen by analysts as a step in the right direction.

The deal, which is expected to be completed in January, will more than double Wit's investment banking and equity research resources to over 100 people, and the number of companies covered will exceed 200.

"This is a big deal for Wit," because it will add to earnings, said Amy Butte, an analyst who follows brokerage and asset management firms at Bear Stearns. She estimated that Wit would lose $13 million in 2000, while SoundView already made $17 million in net income in the first three quarters of this year. "Automatically, Wit goes from losing money to creating money," she said. Butte rates the stock a buy and Bear Stearns participated in the underwriting of Wit's IPO.

David Readerman, director of Internet strategy at Thomas Weisel Partners, said in a research bulletin that the deal is beneficial to Wit because of "one, expanded technology coverage outside the Internet sector; two, the addition of an institutional sales capability; and three, a stronger platform to justify higher fees on co-managed deals." Readerman maintains a buy rating on the stock, and Thomas Weisel Partners also participated in the underwriting of Wit's IPO.

***But some analysts were more cautious. "They're doing the right things to acquire research capability," said Shah. But, he said, Wit needed to expand its base of clients interested in IPOs and other deals. "They still need to build distribution capacity, and they still need to build the ability to support stocks in the after market."

He added, "They need to make more acquisitions and to grow organically by hiring more analysts from the Street."***

Warning:

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO VISIT "ipomaven.com" SOMETHING THERE SET OFF MY ANTI-VIRUS, BLOCKING THE URL!

Naturally, I wanted to learn more about ipomaven, to see if there was any more hints as to who Manish Shah is - google has returned little of use so far, other than a link to "ipomaven.com" which does not seem to be safe at all...

Which actually begs the question, "What exactly is the deal with 123Jump.com, who is Manish Shah & wtf is with ipomaven?",

then of course one has to wonder, considering that many familiar elements are present, "Does this indeed have anything to do with Imran Awan & "[email protected]"(What about a Nathan Bennet?)? Are Manish Shah, Imran Awan and/or the Rizvi family known to each other? Are there any other ways we can connect them other than abstractions(which seem too glaring to overlook) regarding Weinstein et al?",

finally one has to wonder about the curious comparison of Dr Manish Shah(Romford, UK) and Dr Larry Nassar(Michigan, USA) and the way in which repeating names, Soros/Democrat money and the placement of Scientology/NXIVM assets, relate to widespread cult influence, 'terrorism', sexual assault, 'playing both sides' - exlpored extensively in the latest and even early Root of Corruption entries.

There's a lot of speculation here, but, the presence of recurring themse here is palpable. I'd love help looking into any of the unexplored names/businesses/connections layed out in these addendums and the original Awan | Uber | Klout curiosities.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Organization with a minor in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.

Does anything from the above stand out to you? Speak up if so!

A few things stand out to myself, as recurring themes here...

  • Andrew F. Ngim, associate of Ashraf R. Rizvi(brother of Suhail Rizvi), has strong proxy connections to what could be considered 'big oil', an often-discussed element of conflict in the Middle-East, see "pipelines".
  • Ashraf R. Rizvi appears to have spent a majority of his career overseeing and analyzing large transactions of money - what kind of opportunities might this afford he and his brother?
  • With conflict in the Middle-East coming up again re: 'big oil'/pipelines, I can't help but be reminded of at least Sep 11, Black September, Libyan Civil War, etc...
  • Remember also that sex slavery/human trafficking is an element in the topic middle-east extremists/conflict, see Yezidi plight.

Let's take a look at another associate of Ashraf R. Rizvi(via SummerHaven), Kurt J. Nelson:

[19. corporationwiki: Kurt Nelson | https://archive.is/67apx]:

I'm fairly certain this is the correct Kurt Nelson as the infographic/associate-map shows the name Kurt J. Nelson.

Indeed we can see that Kurt J. Nelson and his relative Jon A. Nelson are both connected to two companies between them:

Again, if anything from the above stands out at you, speak up! Dig deeper if you have the time.

From the above, I'm still firm in what stands out to me from earlier - the oil and engineering industries seem to be of importance in the broader picture here...

  • Between the Rizvi brothers(Suhail & Ashraf) and their father, Syied Humayoun Raza Rizvi - many connections exist, linking up to Western Psychology, Hollywood corruption(recurring as always, is Ottomans vs Dragons and abstractions and/or external references thereto), Western political corruption/conflict, Middle-East conflict/corruption and the influence of particular cults and black magick as a cover/scapegoat/means-to-an-end/means-of-money-laundering.
  • I wonder if Disney and it's themepark(s) have a relation to the Nelson companies... fleeting thought.

I'll wrap this part up in a single comment, ahead in Addendum 3, we'll bring Imran Awan back into the picture...

Very important.

Q

We'll start by looking at the Rizvi brothers first, as this will lead us to some interesting places:

First, I googled "Rizvi Traverse Management" which gave me the following:

[1. wiki: Suhail Rizvi]:

Emphasis my own.

Suhail R. Rizvi is co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Rizvi Traverse Management LLC.[1] He has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and sits on the Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board.[2] A venture capitalist, his investments include Twitter, Facebook, Flipboard and Square.[3] Due to his large stake in Twitter, both personally and for other investors, he was the subject of media scrutiny at the time of Twitter's IPO; he is notoriously private.[4]

Along with social media, Rizvi has invested in telecommunications and entertainment.[5] In April 2007, Rizvi Traverse acquired an equity ownership stake in Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the successful “Twilight” series. In January 2012, Lions Gate announced that it had acquired Summit Entertainment for $412.5 million.[6] In 2005, his firm acquired controlling interest in International Creative Management,[7] but sold its stake.[8] After management problems with the Hollywood talent agency, Rizvi Traverse Management exchanged its equity, "for a combination of cash, preferred non-voting shares and an ongoing interest in certain assets of the company."[8][9] The firm also helped Hugh Hefner buy back Playboy Enterprises in 2011.[10] In November 2015, the company announced the acquisition of 3D cinema technology firm RealD for $551 million.[11][12] His father Syied Humayoun Raza Rizvi, who died in July 2016, was a professor of psychology at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls.[13]

His brother, Ashraf, is a hedge fund manager.

  • Vested interest in social media.[1]
  • More vampire shit via Hollywood.[1] | Reeks of Weinstein & Ottomans.
  • Playboy buyback of 2011.[1] | What else happened that year?
  • Father recently died, professor of psychology.[1] | Possibly way too close to corruption; possibly as part of an attempt to monitor the effects that Hollywood black magick is having on persons who present as mentally ill - reeks of Scientology(et al).
  • Ashraf Rizvi is a hedge fund manager.[1]

Rob Amir joins Vine Alternative Investments

Former Clear Scope, Sony exec will be based in L.A.

By Rachel Abrams

After financial advisory firm Clear Scope Partners closed shop this summer, former managing director Rob Amir has found a new home with New York-based private equity firm Vine Alternative Investments.

Hire marks Vine’s first exec appointment outside Gotham. The firm, co-founded by managing partner Jim Moore and partners Bill Lambert and Steven Kovach in 2007, focuses on media investments with a heavy emphasis on film.

“We’ve known Rob a long time and we’re very excited to bring someone of his caliber aboard to help us grow the firm and expand our presence in California,” Moore told Variety.

Amir will focus on transaction analytics as he helps to expand the firm’s Los Angeles-based operations. Those have included investing in Melrose II, Paramount’s most recent co-investment vehicle that has backed pics including the “Transformers” franchise.

“I am very excited about joining the dynamic and experienced team at (Vine) to help expand their presence in Los Angeles,” Amir told Variety. “They’re one of a handful of investors who have a proven track record of consummating complex transactions in the entertainment space through the recent economic downturn. Their knowledgeable approach perfectly positions them as a long-term capital partner for both industry operators and senior lenders.”

Before Clear Scope, Amir worked in deal analysis at Sony Pictures.

Village Roadshow Entertainment Group

Village Roadshow Entertainment Group was founded by Village Roadshow Limited and owns Village Roadshow Pictures Entertainment, which controls Village Roadshow Pictures.[4]

In 2015, Village Roadshow Entertainment Group was recapitalized with a $480 million investment that included funds from Falcon Investment Advisors and Vine Alternative Investments. Falcon Investment Advisors and Vine Alternative Investments added additional capital in April 2017 to take a controlling stake in the corporation. This was to fund a new strategic plan for an expanded film slate and add production of TV programs and other content forms. For the expanded film slate, which would add one to two films per year to its already planned six to ten films, the group planned to move beyond equity investments to project development with some direct adaptation rights purchases. Vine CEO Jim Moore took over as the group's board chairman.[4]

Xena: Warrior Princess is an American fantasy television series filmed on location in New Zealand. The series aired in syndication from September 4, 1995, until June 18, 2001.[1] It has been praised by critics for its strong female protagonist and has since acquired a strong cult following, attention in fandom, parody, and academia, and has influenced the direction of other television series.[2]

Uber and Uberfic

Uberfic is a variety of fan fiction in which the characters live in an alternate universe. The characters and events are true to the original canon but usually in a different time period, often as the ancestors, descendants or reincarnations of canon characters. The term originated in Xena fandom. Uber was employed several times in the series, beginning with the second-season episode "The Xena Scrolls", in which the descendants of Xena, Gabrielle and Joxer meet up at an archeological dig in 1940 and unwittingly release Ares from his tomb.[75]

Curious, no?

Abstract link between "Uber", "Bay" and Weinstein; Scientology; Sep 11; Black September; Libyan Civil War; NTC; NXIVM

I don't know exactly what the situation here is, with regards to Uber & Klout et al, but, it doesn't look good at all - indeed it seems to connect up to the usual suspects and black magick discussed throughout the Root of Corruption series...

Let's go back over some of the stuff I skipped through earlier, there's other curiosities here:

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is an American content delivery network (CDN) and cloud service provider headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the United States. Akamai's content delivery network is one of the world's largest distributed computing platforms, responsible for serving between 15% and 30% of all web traffic.[3] The company operates a network of servers around the world and rents out capacity on these servers to customers who want their websites to work faster by distributing content from locations close to the user. When a user navigates to the URL of an Akamai customer, his or her browser is redirected to one of Akamai's copies of the website.

The company was founded in 1998 by Daniel M. Lewin (then a graduate student at MIT) and MIT applied mathematics professor Tom Leighton. Lewin was killed aboard American Airlines Flight 11, which crashed in the September 11 attacks of 2001. Leighton currently serves as Akamai's CEO.

Robert Michael Gates (born September 25, 1943) is an American statesman, scholar, and university president who served as the 22nd United States Secretary of Defense from 2006 to 2011. He was originally appointed by President George W. Bush, but was retained for service by President Barack Obama. Gates began his career serving as an officer in the United States Air Force but was quickly recruited by the CIA.[2] Gates served for 26 years in the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Council, and was Director of Central Intelligence under President George H. W. Bush. After leaving the CIA, Gates became president of Texas A&M University and was a member of several corporate boards. Gates served as a member of the Iraq Study Group, the bipartisan commission co-chaired by James A. Baker III and Lee H. Hamilton, that studied the lessons of the Iraq War.

Gates was nominated by Republican President George W. Bush as Secretary of Defense after the 2006 election, replacing Donald Rumsfeld.[3] He was confirmed with bipartisan support.[4] In a 2007 profile written by former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, Time named Gates one of the year's most influential people.[4] In 2008, Gates was named one of America's Best Leaders by U.S. News & World Report.[5] He continued to serve as Secretary of Defense in President Barack Obama's administration.[6] He retired in 2011. "He'll be remembered for making us aware of the danger of over-reliance on military intervention as an instrument of American foreign policy," said former Senator David L. Boren.[7] Gates was presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian award, by President Obama during his retirement ceremony.[8]

Since leaving the Obama Administration, Gates has been elected President of the Boy Scouts of America, served as Chancellor of the College of William & Mary, and served as a member on several corporate boards.

I'm sure I have seen this guy's name pop up time and time again in all of this shit, be it on voat or twitter or on MSM broadcasting...

I'm also sure I've seen the Boy Scouts of America come up in my research before... unfortunately a search of my Root of Corruption entries shows nothing, I'm keeping a pin in it, though.

~~

Obama Administration

On December 1, 2008, President-elect Obama announced that Robert Gates would remain in his position as Secretary of Defense during his administration,[6] reportedly for at least the first year of Obama's presidency.[50] Gates was the fourteenth Cabinet member in history to serve under two Presidents of different parties, and the first to do so as Secretary of Defense.~~

~~In December 2009 Gates visited Afghanistan following President Barack Obama's announcement of the deployment of 30,000 additional personnel against the Taliban insurgency.[57]

Time magazine notes that Gates and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have "forged a formidable partnership", speaking frequently, "comparing notes before they go to the White House", meeting with each other weekly and having lunch once a month at either the Pentagon or the State Department.[58]

In a March 2010 speech to a NATO conference in Washington, Secretary Gates said that "The demilitarization of Europe—where large swaths of the general public and political class are averse to military force and the risks that go with it—has gone from a blessing in the 20th century to an impediment to achieving real security and lasting peace in the 21st".[59]

Gates announced in February 2010 that the department would lift its ban on women serving on submarines.[60] Gates also prepared the armed forces for the repeal of the don't ask, don't tell policy. Since the repeal in 2010, homosexuals are able to serve in the military openly.[61] In service of that goal, he announced in late March 2010 the approval of new regulations that would make it more difficult to kick gays out of the military. Gates called the guideline changes, which went into effect immediately, a matter of "common sense and common decency" that would be "an important improvement" allowing the Pentagon to apply current law in "a fairer and more appropriate" manner. The Pentagon's legal counsel, Jeh Johnson, said the new regulations are by no means a moratorium on the current law and stressed that cases would move forward under the new standards.[62]

Gates was photographed in the White House Situation Room photograph taken on May 1, 2011 by Pete Souza.

Gates sitting with Obama, Biden, and the U.S. national security team gathered in the Situation Room to monitor the progress of Operation Neptune Spear.

Quite a few things stand out as worth looking at, in the Robert Gates wiki entry. I'm pretty much out of room in this comment though, unfortunately. Have a read of the Post–Obama administration & Criticism sections, they're likely to have relevance in upcoming Root of Corruption entries - there's also the Iran-Contra Affair, which I pointed out fleetingly early on in Root of Corruption Chapter 1, albeit out of context at the time.

I'm going to go ahead and wrap this up now, I really did surprise myself with the external relevancies which found a place here - I wasn't sure what was going on when I first looked into Uber, still not certain, but again, it doesn't look good and appears to have all the necessary links to warrant a further look...

Let's see how far we can take this...

[21]:

History

In late 2008, Lithium completed a detailed, time-series analysis of up to a decade's worth of proprietary data that represents billions of interactions, millions of users, and scores of communities. This research, coupled with the company's expertise in planning, deploying, and managing customer communities, enabled Lithium to identify and calculate key factors that contributed to a new standard for measuring community health – the Community Health Index.[3]

At the beginning of 2010, Lithium announced over 100 percent growth in annual recurring revenue, coupled with securing $18MM in Series C financing.[4] On May 11, 2010, Lithium acquired social media monitoring (SMM) provider, Scout Labs, whose service allows brands to engage with their customers beyond the community and monitor, map, and measure customer conversations on the social web.[5]

In August 2011, Lithium announced the appointment of Enterprise Software Veteran Rob Tarkoff as Chief Executive Officer to succeed Lyle Fong, co-founder of Lithium. Fong took up the role of Chief Strategist and continued serving on the board of directors.[6]

In January 2012, the Wall Street Journal reported that the company secured a $53.4 million Series D round of financing, led by New Enterprise Associates. The funding round also included Greenspring Associates, SAP Ventures, the venture capital firm associated with Germany's SAP AG.[7] The WSJ reported that the Series D financing round brought the company's total funding to date to $101 million.

Silicon Valley high-tech consultant and author Geoffrey Moore joined the company's board of directors in August 2012.[8]

In October 2012, the company acquired Austin, Texas-based Social Dynamx, which provided cloud-based software that allows large call centers to manage their social customer service.[9][10] Lithium renamed the former Social Dynamx product as "Lithium Social Web" and integrated it with its core Lithium Communities product.[11]

In September 2013, Lithium announced a $50 million pre-IPO mezzanine funding round.[12] The company said it secured the new financing from a syndicate of global institutional investors along with existing investor New Enterprise Associates (NEA).

In February 2014, Lithium bought Klout.[13]

In June 2015, Microsoft and Lithium signed a strategic alliance agreement to integrate Lithium social interactions and community data into Microsoft Dynamics [null CRM].

In June 2016, Lithium announced Lithium Reach,[14] a social marketing product that redefines how brands can maximize engagement across social channels, blogs and online communities. Lithium is a member of the Facebook Marketing Partner Program[15] and Twitter Certified Partner Program.[16]

In July 2017, Lithium announced that it was acquired by Vista Equity Partners, a leading private equity firm focused on investments in software, data and technology-enabled businesses. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

In October 2017, Lithium announced its acquisition of the Jive-x external community business from Jive Software, an Aurea company.[citation needed]

Operations

Headquartered in San Francisco, Lithium has additional offices in Austin, TX (US) New York, NY (US) Portland, OR (US) London (UK) Paris (FR) Singapore (SG) Sydney (AU) Zurich (CH) Bangalore (IND).

The company sells largely to enterprise customers, including HP, Best Buy, Sony, Comcast, Symantec, AT&T, Sephora, Spotify, Google, Sky, Samsung and Microsoft.[17][18]

The company is based in San Francisco and employees 90 people as of August 2016. The company focuses on retrofitting semi trucks with radars, cameras and laser sensors to make them capable of driving themselves. In August 2016, Otto was acquired by the transportation network company Uber. Lior Ron, the co-founder of the company, has stated that Otto will have self-driving fleets of trucks on the road by early 2017.[1]

Lawsuits

In February 2017, Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., filed a lawsuit against Uber, alleging that Anthony Levandowski "downloaded 9.7 GB of Waymo’s highly confidential files and trade secrets, including blueprints, design files and testing documentation" before resigning to found Otto.[16][17] In March 2017, United States District Judge William Haskell Alsup, referred the case to federal prosecutors after Levandowski exercised his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.[18] In May 2017, Judge Alsup ordered Levandowski to refrain from working on Otto's Lidar and required Uber to disclose its discussions on the technology.[19]

Clearpath Robotics filed a complaint in the Northern district of California on August 24, 2016 against Ottomotto LLC with respect to its OTTO brand. The action was dismissed with prejudice on February 1, 2017. Clearpath Robotics continues to operate the OTTO brand. In response, Clearpath issued a statement to about the confusion.[20] In May 2017, Uber officially retired the Otto brand as a result of the lawsuit with Clearpath Robotics Inc.[21]

Joe Fernandez is a Cuban American businessman most well known for his work on the social media company Klout. He attended, but did not graduate from, the University of Miami. He moved to New York City where he met his wife. He had several jobs at several companies, including Adjoined Technologies, Onboard Information, and Evalulogix, the latter which he co-founded. Fernandez underwent jaw surgery at the age of 30, which contributed to his idea for Klout due to his inability to speak. He started Klout in New York City, and the website launched on December 24, 2008.~~

Career

Fernandez began his career working as a web developer for Adjoined Technologies from 2000 to 2001, but lost his job after the dot com bubble burst occurred.[1] He met the co-founder by chance, who was a school psychologist, shortly after the No Child Left Behind act had passed. The co-founder took issue with how much paperwork he had to do and how it prevented him from helping children. The two of them worked to make the company in order to create software that helps schools deal with paperwork.[1] At its peak, the company's paperwork software was being used in 80% of schools in the United States.[1] While the startup was not a major success, the Arkansas-based company Computer Automation System paid Fernandez and his co-workers royalties for their product.[2] His next job was as a director for research and innovation at Onboard Informatics.[1] Fernandez was a standout at WorldLink media both as a computer programmer and at Cupball. A game created among Joe and three other employees. Joe's ideas and inspiration springboarded the games popularity during the Shaq/Kobe years in Los Angeles. Fernandez's idea for Klout came from being bedridden during his recovery from jaw surgery in 2007, as he had been using Twitter as his means for communication and came up with the idea of measurable influence through this experience.[1][3] The name "Klout" came as he wrote it down on a piece of paper while delirious from pain relievers.[3] After coming up with the idea for the website, Fernandez quit his job at Onboard Information in order to pursue it.[3] He went to Singapore in order to start up the business, using his own money to hire a team to work on the website.[3] Fernandez was in talks with the former owner of Klout.com to purchase the domain name, but was having difficulties coming to terms on price with him. He met with the domain name owner in person to offer him $5,000 for the domain, which he accepted.[4] The website launched on December 24, 2008.[3] Initially, Fernandez handled the scores of Klout users manually by himself.[3] In 2012, Fernandez was able to raise $30 million in funding.[1] On March 27, 2014, it was announced that Lithium Technologies had purchased Klout from Fernandez.[5] On April 17, 2015, Fernandez announced that he has stepped down from his position at Klout after it was purchased by Lithium in order to pursue other business ventures.[6] Following his decision to step down, Fernandez joined Lithium as one of its board of directors, replacing former board member Chi-Hua Chien (who also joined the board following the acquisition).[7]

Impact and reception

Fernandez received some criticism due to the perception that a recent change to Klout's score algorithm included a design that punishes users by reducing their Klout scores if they speak to people with "low influence."[3] There was also a public perception that Klout's algorithm was just a "vanity."[6] Following the change in the algorithm (which caused people's Klout scores to lower), a Twitter campaign called "#OccupyKlout" was created, his cell phone was leaked, and he received hundreds of death threats.[1]

  • Death threat campaigns are a bit too familiar here...

Can you see what I see?

The rise and fall of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick

by Alanna Petroff ~~ June 21, 2017: 11:42 AM ET

Travis Kalanick spent most of the past decade turning a taxi app into the world's most valuable startup.

But his ride as CEO of Uber came to an end Tuesday when he resigned after a seemingly endless series of scandals raised doubts over his leadership.

Here's a look at the highs and lows of the controversial entrepreneur's career:

Before Uber: As an undergrad, Kalanick teamed up with fellow UCLA computer science students to create Scour, a peer-to-peer file sharing service that resembled Napster. It didn't last.

But he had caught the entrepreneurship bug, and went four years without taking a salary at his next startup, another peer-to-peer network called Red Swoosh.

Kalanick has said that he ate a lot of ramen noodles during those lean years. He would later wear socks emblazoned with the words "Blood, sweat and ramen."

Red Swoosh was sold for about $15 million in 2007.

2008: Kalanick claims that he came up with the idea for Uber when he was unable to flag down a taxi in Paris during a tech conference.

But that may be more creation myth than fact.

Garrett Camp, another serial entrepreneur, came up with the idea for Uber in mid-2008 after getting "blacklisted" by the two big cab companies in San Francisco, according to a recent book by Adam Lashinsky. Camp brought on Kalanick and three other friends as advisers.

Okay, it's time for the wiki chain; buckle up:

[13. wiki: Travis Kalanick]:

Travis Cordell Kalanick (/ˈkælənɪk/) (born August 6, 1976) is an American businessman. He is the co-founder of Scour, a peer to peer file sharing application, Red Swoosh, a peer-to-peer content delivery network, and Uber, a transportation network company. Red Swoosh was sold to Akamai Technologies in 2007.[3][citation needed] Kalanick resigned from Uber in 2017 after reports that sexual harassment occurred under his tenure. He remains a shareholder and board-member.[4]

Kalanick is ranked 115th on the Forbes 400 list of richest Americans, with a net worth of $4.8 billion.[1]

[15. [13]: wiki: Uber]:

Uber Technologies Inc. is a peer-to-peer ridesharing, food delivery, and transportation network company headquartered in San Francisco, California, with operations in 633 cities worldwide. Its platforms can be accessed via its websites and mobile apps.

The name "Uber" is a reference to the common (and somewhat colloquial) word "uber", meaning "topmost" or "super", and having its origins in the German word über, meaning "above".[4]

Uber has been prominent in the sharing economy, so much so that the changes in industries as a result of it have been referred to as Uberisation.[5][6][7] Uber has also been the subject of protests and legal actions and the subject of a criminal investigation for its use of Greyball.

Uber (2009–2017)

~~

Economic Advisor to Trump Council

Despite CTO Thuan Pham's 2016 internal email to employees commenting, "I will not even utter the name of this deplorable person because I do not accept him as my leader" on the election of U.S. President Donald Trump, which was widely circulated and published by the media,[40][41] in December 2016, it was announced that Kalanick joined other CEOs, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, General Motors CEO Mary Barra, Disney CEO Bob Iger, Walmart CEO Doug McMillon, and former General Electric CEO Jack Welch, as an economic advisor on Trump's Strategy and Policy Forum,[42] organized by Blackstone's Stephen Schwarzman.[43] Kalanick vocally opposed President Trump's executive order banning travel from select countries and believed that remaining on Trump's advisory council would provide him with the opportunity to directly address his concerns with the President and advocate for immigrants. In an Uber blog post, Kalanick stated that he wanted to use his position on the council to "give citizens a voice, a seat at the table."[44] However, after continued pressure, Kalanick announced in an email to Uber employees that he would step down from the council.[45]

Criticism of Kalanick's behavior at Uber

In 2017, it was reported that Kalanick had knowledge of sexual harassment allegations at Uber and did nothing.[46] In the same week, he asked his direct report,[47] Uber's SVP of Engineering Amit Singhal, to resign after a month for failing to disclose a sexual harassment claim during Singhal's 15 years as VP of Google Search, after Recode reported about it in media.[48][49][50] According to Reuters, he has "a reputation as an abrasive leader".[51][52]

In February 2017, a video was released where Kalanick was shimmying between two women in an UberBLACK, before arguing with an Uber driver during a heated debate in which he berated the driver.[53][54][55]

In March 2017, Uber VP of Business, Emil Michael contacted Kalanick's ex-girlfriend in an attempt to silence her into hiding an HR complaint. This backfired, with her speaking to The Information as a source present during an executive team outing with Kalanick, where Michael and four more Uber managers selected numbered women at a Korean escort bar, prompting a complaint one year later, by the female manager who attended.[56][57] She also has since spoken to Businessweek about Uber's India rape case.[58]

On June 21, 2017, he stepped down as the CEO of Uber because of the pressure from a majority of the investors as he was seen as a liability but will continue to stay on the company’s board.[59]

[18. [13]: wiki: Emil Michael]

Emil G. Michael (Arabic: إيميل مايكل‎ ; born September 19, 1972)[2] is an Egyptian-born American businessman.

Career

Michael served as a special assistant to Robert Gates from 2009 until 2011.[5] In July 2012 he became Chief Operating Officer of Klout,[6] which he left to join Uber as Vice President of Business in September 2013.[5] In June 2017, Emil left his position at Uber after 4 years at the company. [7]

[19. [18]: wiki: Robert Gates]

[20. [18]: wiki: Klout]:

Klout is a website and mobile app that uses social media analytics to rate its users according to online social influence via the "Klout Score", which is a numerical value between 1 and 100. In determining the user score, Klout measures the size of a user's social media network and correlates the content created to measure how other users interact with that content.[3] Klout launched in 2008.[4]

Klout uses Bing, Facebook, Foursquare, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and Wikipedia data to create Klout user profiles that are assigned a unique "Klout Score".[5] Klout scores range from 1 to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a higher ranking of the breadth and strength of one's online social influence. While all Twitter users are assigned a score, users who register at Klout can link multiple social networks, of which network data is then aggregated to influence the user's Klout Score.

Lithium Technologies, who acquired the site in March 2014, announced on May 10th, 2018 that they will end the service on May 25, 2018.[6]

Y'know what, there's actually a lot of abstract relevance revealing itself here, with regards to my previous RoC entries; perhaps this is the best time and place for this thread after all...

Noteworthy so far:

  • The Pakistani roots of the Awan family, including their attempt to fly out to Pakistan - intercepted by the FBI.
  • Awan claims he worked for Uber and needed mobility restrictions lifted, yet Uber states that they can find nothing to corroborate Awan having been an Uber driver - if it's true that Awan drove for Uber, has he actually revealed the account(s)/device(s) through which he accepted 'calls'?
  • Is Uber participating in a cover up or has Awan used fraudulent methods to participate as a driver? Is it a case of both, in that Uber knows Awan concealed his identity on their services and they're pretending to know nothing about it?

Many questions are worth asking when it comes to Awan and Uber, thusfar, it has proven very difficult for at least myself to prove that Awan worked as an Uber driver - this needs definitive verification, one way or the other.

Let's take a moment now to look at another morbid incident which Uber has found itself embroiled in and which, has been mentioned previously in RoC: The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting

[7. wiki: Stoneman Douglas High School shooting]:

On February 14, 2018, a mass shooting occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Seventeen people were killed and seventeen more were wounded, making it one of the world's deadliest school massacres, surpassing the Columbine high school massacre.[2][3][4] After being identified by witnesses and arrested by the Broward County Sheriff's Office shortly afterward, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz confessed to being the perpetrator.[5] He was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder and 17 counts of attempted murder. Police and prosecutors have not yet offered a motive and are investigating "a pattern of disciplinary issues and unnerving behavior".[6]

The sheriff's office received a number of tips in 2016 and 2017 about Cruz's threats to carry out a school shooting. The Federal Bureau of Investigation learned that a YouTube user with the username "nikolas cruz" posted a message in September 2017 about becoming a school shooter, but the agency could not identify the user. In January 2018, a direct complaint of a death threat by Cruz was not forwarded to the local FBI office by the FBI tip line.

After the shooting, some Stoneman Douglas students who began campaigning for gun control legislation also founded the advocacy group Never Again MSD. On March 9, Governor Rick Scott signed a bill that raised the minimum age for buying rifles in Florida from 18 to 21. The legislation also established waiting periods and background checks for gun buyers. The law also allowed for the arming of properly trained teachers and the hiring of school police. Bump stocks would now be banned and some potentially violent or mentally unstable people would be prohibited from possessing guns.[7] The National Rifle Association (NRA) immediately filed a lawsuit that challenged the federal constitutionality of the age requirement clause.[8]

It has been said that alleged shooter, Nikolas Cruz, had been driven to MSDHS that day by an Uber driver: I am unsure as to the legitimacy of these claims, but, they are worth mentioning in this context

Starting at 20 seconds in the following, we hear about the alleged Uber ride and we also hear from the woman who claims to have been said Uber driver:

Nikolas Cruz, 19, is accused of killing 17 people in the Parkland school shooting. He allegedly opened fire after taking an Uber to the school. The driver told CBS News she recalled him carrying a guitar case and was unaware there was an assault rifle inside. Cruz, who is said to have etched Nazi swastikas on his ammo clips, allegedly planned to set up a "sniper's nest" to shoot at students as they fled from the school, according to CBS News.

Nikolas Cruz said he was headed to music class prior to rampage, Uber driver says

PARKLAND, Fla. --Nikolas Cruz ordered an Uber to pick him up on Valentine's Day around 2 p.m., investigators say, as he planned a deadly attack at his former high school. The Uber driver told CBS Miami she arrived at a location on Loxahatchee Road in Parkland, the area where Cruz was living, and picked up Cruz, who climbed in the back seat carrying a big object.

"I saw him with a backpack which I thought was a guitar case. He told me 'I am going to my music class,'" said the Uber driver, who asked CBS Miami to conceal her identity.

The driver thought nothing of it and headed to Cruz's destination -- Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The driver asked that we not show her face or use her name.

Uber Driver: Cruz Said He Was Headed To Music Class Prior To School Shooting

PARKLAND (CBSMiami) – Nikolas Cruz ordered an Uber to pick him up on Valentine’s Day around 2 p.m., investigators say, as he planned a deadly attack at his former high school.

The Uber driver said she arrived at a location on Loxahatchee Road in Parkland, the area where Cruz was living, and picked up Cruz, who climbed in the back seat carrying a big object.~~

Assuming that it's true that Nikolas Cruz took an Uber to MSDHS that day, this does not necessarily implicate Uber as having direct involvement with the MSDHS shooting incident, but, there's a pattern emerging here...

Given the commotion over gun rights which ensued, the following is worth noting:

Uber Isn't Letting Its Drivers Carry Guns

Uber has changed its firearms policy to prohibit drivers and riders from carrying guns. The ride-sharing company quietly updated the policy on its website, which now reads:

Uber representative Matt McKenna shared a statement from the company in an email:

We have adopted a no-firearms policy to ensure that both riders and drivers feel safe and comfortable on the platform. We made this policy change after assessing existing policies and carefully reviewing recent feedback from both riders and driver-partners.

In April, The New Republic reported that Uber’s policy “requires all its drivers to abide by local, state, and federal laws pertaining to transporting firearms in vehicles,” a policy that differed significantly from that of another ride-sharing service, Lyft. Lyft has a “strict ‘No Weapons’ policy,” a decision that the company said comes “from a community perspective—it’s hard to know what someone else is or isn’t comfortable with.”

The companies’ differing policies came to light after an Uber driver in Chicago shot a man who was firing a pistol into a group of people. The Uber driver, who was not named and who had a concealed carry permit, had dropped off a passenger only minutes before pulling out his gun and firing six times at the man shooting a pistol.

Uber Driver Sues Ride-Hailing Company Over Gun Policy

Jose Mejia, who has a concealed-carry license, says the tech giant's no-weapons rule conflicts with Florida law.

by Alex Yablon ~~ August 22, 2017

A Florida driver for the ride-hailing giant Uber is suing the company for the right to carry his gun while on the job. Jose Mejia, who has a Florida concealed-carry license, drives for Uber in the Miami area.

In a class action suit filed earlier this month, Mejia claims that Uber’s no-guns policy violates his rights under a 2008 state law that grants concealed carriers the right to possess a gun in their vehicle. The lawsuit quotes extensively from the statute, which says that Floridians have the right to keep and bear arms “within their motor vehicles for self-defense and other lawful purposes” and that these rights “are not abrogated by virtue of a citizen becoming a customer, employee, or invitee of a business entity.”

Uber, based in California, did not respond to a request to comment on the case.

Jon Gutmacher, a Florida attorney and gun-rights specialist, told The Trace on Monday that the suit has merit.

“Were this a company car or a car leased by the company, it would be an entirely different story,” he said. “But Uber drivers use their own vehicles.”~~

Uber is to the firearms debate, what a fly is to shit. At least, that's how it's starting to appear...
