In canada, She's not the queen of britain, she's the queen of canada. In australia she's the queen of australia, etc. The british government could lock her up and remove all of her powers, she would still be queen of canada. Its not that canada is under british control, its that all of the governments of the commonwealth are independant from one another, but Elizabeth is the head of state for each. Secondly, every prime minister has to swear to the queen. All military members must swear to the queen. Every single facet of the government gets its power from the queen.
