I am really shocked they fell for this (CIA and MSM). It is so outrageous that it sets a perfect pretext for Trump to go in with CIA reform, and bring the MSM under control (allowing them to be held liable and sued for fake news etc)
No. MSM shouldn't be under control of any government. And if you want to accuse someone of fake news, which is MSM's bullshit narrative, you've already lost the game.
Agreed, it's a slippery slope to try to control what is real vs what is fake news. IMO make it as free and open as possible. Let people make their own minds up as to what is real and fake. With the internet, you can get to the truth pretty quickly.
I think overall the term "fake news" will be used against the MSM far more than against the more obscure alt-right media. They will regret inventing that term and strategy as it will be used against them. They often forget that no one trusts them and their approval ratings are horrendous.
When it comes to "holding media accountable" and being able to "sue" them, I am vehemently opposed to Trump. It is IMPERATIVE to a free society that the media remain untouchable by political elites. The government should have NO DOMAIN over the media. PERIOD. EVER.
Because although you may love what Trump has to do and say, REMEMBER in 4 or 8 years someone YOU MAY NOT AGREE WITH will be in the White House. Do you want THEM to have control of the media? Because they will in your scenario.
That's the perfect example actually. The press has to be free to make their stupid outlandish claims, because there will never be an objective way to determine what is "outlandish". Someone always has an agenda and when those people are in control, they will mold the press to their agenda. Therefore the only logical solution is to have complete freedom of speech and information. Even fake news must be allowed.

Yes it shows that the CIA and MSM are biased and will give something that fits their political beliefs the benefit of the doubt.
