(Talking about finding a piece of a ?human? scalp and their baseball cap that had been unable to be found when the person was killed and the snowed over? )

(So this person knows about or remembers that they couldnt find that piece of scalp or hat and is grossed out and shocked that it sat there this long and wasnt discovered until now?)

I think you're reading way too much into this one. It sounds like an innocent conversation to me. You've also twisted the words suggesting it was their baseball cap when all they say is that they found one.
