GNU MediaGoblin

This GNU project aims to be self-hosting and federalised. The self-hosting part would offload the cost of the servers, hopefully. The federalization would make Voat less vulnerable to a single point of failure. Perhaps it could be adapted in some way to meet Voat's needs.

EtherBBS
There is also a distributed forum system based on Etherum under development where discussion is moved to the block chain.

BOINC
Wouldn't the BOINC service that powers SETI@Home be a possible way to have processing completed on the computers used by Goats? There is a Grid computing facility that uses BOINC.

To throw a few more ideas into the hat, how about Voat just scales everything down to maintenance and provision of an index. When users want to access Voat, they zsync their local copy of the index with changes on voat's index. Instead of everybody linking to Voat directly, Voat could have a few Mirrors, USA, Canada, UK, Germany, etc.

What are Voats current requirements for: Data Transfer, RAM, Storage, and Processing Cores?

Keep your confidence and thank you so much for working on a platform for Free Expression.
