For those of you who don’t know what’s going on. Watkins tried going live with 8kun yesterday. Fred Brennan (hot wheels), the original creator of 8chan, got it deplatformed twice. You can follow the events and drama on his twatter feed:

Jim Watkins stated he complies with all US laws and regulations. No one to my knowledge has disputed this. To have have no criminality and have 8kun shut down due to Brennan’s request shows the existential danger big tech and the current infrastructure of the internet is to free speech and human liberty.

Brennan created 8 chan and transferred ownership to watkins years ago. He is no longer involved with it, but thinks 8ch is bad for society and regrets creating it. In the interview, he specifically cites racists and the manifestos of the mass shooters. He does not approve of how Jim has managed it and the content he allows to be posted. He believes it should be more regulated like 4ch. He also has a major personal beef with jim. He has essentially made it one of his life goals to keep 8ch or any rebranding of it off the web. When jim tried going live with 8kun yesterday, Brennan traced their route through Vare’s network. He then notified them and appealed for Vare to block them on the basis that 8kun is no different than 8ch and should not be online. Vare complied and blocked 8kun. Watkins tried jumping to new IPs through the same network later, Brennan caught this and again notified Vare, to which Vare blocked them a second time.

yeah, this. It wasn't just Brennan's request. That was right around the time that Congress asked Watkins to testify about 8ch in front of them. Many thought it was likely to come back online right after that was over, but obviously there have been some obstacles.

Thanks for providing that. Brennan mentioned it in the podcast I referenced, but I didn’t know what he was talking since I had never seen it. Brennan claims they had it 3D printed at Jim’s request and he still has the receipt for it.

Just to play along:

Q wouldn't necessarily NEED help from hotwheels in order for him to be helpful.

The difference is that Watkins controls the main validation method that Q uses (tripcodes). Of course Q could always set up another verification method but it would take some doing and would always allow for a question.

I agree that it is going to be very dificult for Jim to find a network provider due to the negative perception of 8ch. I have doubts he will ever get 8kun online now. Brennan has stated he personnally appeal to any provider they attempt to go to. There are only so many tier 2 providers.
