I agree that we should stop a bad precedent, but at least he seems like he's willing to work with the community.

He really should have asked to be a mod first.

At the time there were two mods already and they had no reason to think they would leave. I think @trigglypuff put their name in as part of the janitor army a long time ago.

From Trigglypuff:

Hey Kev. There are currently no active mods on v/pics. Elnino and SilverBanana have both quit. Since I was made a Janitor, not one mod has communicated with me in anyway.

Whilst I do not always agree with some content, like people posting gifs, I have not removed anything that was not spam. I do feel that certain users have been posting crap to the sub, gifs, videos, memes. Ive left it to the community to downvoat or upvoat content, but I do worry that v/pics is turning into a catch all sub. Any thoughts? Thanks

Oh, and it was never discussed amoungst Janitors to enforce sidebar rules.

If there are no active mods on v/pics then we should appoint one.

Why do we even need moderators when votes work ?

Votes don't work on their own, without moderators to enforce rules all you'd see is the submissions from the person with the biggest bot army.

I'm sure Puttitout will set this guy straight. None of the mods there have been apppointed or even checked by the users though. banana was modded by elNino and doc5 by one of them. That deletion on the nsfw one is dodgy as well. Seems like an excuse to delete a potential doxxing which wasnt against the rules.

Note the deletions state that they are being removed for rule violations.

Janitors are to delete obvious spam only. If it isn’t obviously spam, let it be.

.

Do not delete anything that violates the rules of a subverse. Removing rule violations is the moderator’s job to determine, not the janitor’s. (Many of these defaults have good moderators that have been there a long time and this is their job to determine such things ).

Guidelines are pretty clear here.
