Is Sanders aware that he's a distraction? Is he cynically promoting himself into a pre-planned failure or is he delusional? (The "savior" alternative doesn't really inspire me...)
I don't really remember seeing many mainstream news articles on the CISA controversy. The mainstream already had their attention on Star Wars for the past 6 weeks. The people talking about CISA were on small alternative news sites and blogs primarily.
The guy could never have actually won, but he had a strong enough backing he could have forced concessions on party platform.
The Republicans engaged in blatant, outright voter fraud in the public eye. Ron Paul couldn't get any legal action against them from the government.
Ron Paul tried to bypass voting entirely by corrupting the delegates pool. Its shitty, but clever. Honestly, it was necessary. The Republican establishment simply changed the required number of delegates to be one higher than what he had to crowd him out of the convention.
This is pretty technical political stuff. Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to sift through the mountains of conspiracy theories and paultard bullshit to get to the actual story.
The point is: The elections are rigged. The primaries are rigged. The whole system is rigged. The parties pick their candidates, and the public picks between the two. Now, the parties have gone so far as to control the media and push single candidates in the public eye.
I think its hilarious how obvious all this has become, and yet most people either don't care or don't want to care. Or they're on McReddit and crying as loud as they can about Messiah Sanders having political woes.
Not necessarily going too far from your point, I do think communities need to start working towards their own infrastructure if we ever hope to have a starting point of determining our own future. This is in development, but seems like it could be a viable solution to community food growth? I also just started reading about mesh networks, I would love other people's input on this stuff.
Try to organize at a county level. States have tried and failed. Nations could secede -- with UN recognition, which is a mixed bag. Depending on the state, counties seem irrelevant, but... it's possible.
I like it- I think it is definitely possible. You would probably need to be somewhere where the schools and institutions like libraries were county rather than city based.
Not my first rodeo, bub. I'll tell you what else to watch out for: vote stackers. This is my big rage against the fucking Libertarian party. Anytime there's a grassroots movement like this, there's some Libertarian who wants to insert himself. They always have an eye on national prominence, which, in effect, sells out their constituents for their ideology. They're more motivated to promote libertarianism than represent their populace.
As for what the county level enables, what you get is the court system. Any place with a city that overpowers the county will be a rough sell. In part because Federal bodies work with cities but neglect counties. Courts are more important than schools and libraries. A lot of schools have to be compliant with state boards of education (which are potentially constitutional) but that's shifting to the department of education through "No Child Left Behind" (Thanks, Bush).
That makes a lot of sense. I guess I brought up those particular institutions because I think education is one of the strongest ways of promoting real dialogue within a community, and raising awareness so that a maximum amount of people can feel engaged. I think you are right in working towards courts, in particular. Any other words of advice you can give on the subject would be greatly appreciated!
I've seen some interesting things on using technology to home-grow food. I hope to one day have a house that's at least independent from the main power grid using solar and other sources of electricity, though personally its more of a cost saving thing than an anti-establishment thing.
No reason to have a big empty backyard full of grass when you can use it for food or power.
The more you pay attention the more obvious the bread and circuses really becomes.
People are far too distracted by TPTB produced entertainment to really care about the big picture, they don't even see the frame, just a happy little tree in the corner. As long as that one tree is happy and green the world is just dandy in average persons eyes.
Three days. That is how long (I think) you have to straight up ignore the masses for them to move on. Every time you respond you reset the clock; say nothing and you can run out the clock and they'll move on to the next manufactured controversy. A congressman could say, "so what, Obama's a nigger." and if they said nothing else for three days I swear it would fly under the radar. No apologies, just duck the 'outrage' and keep quiet; the public has the attention span of a goldfish.
Most people are more worried about who is saying "nigger" or "faggot" around themselves than the murders being allowed and committed throughout the world by their representatives in government.

Was it? I'm not even much of a fan, but I was looking foward to finding the $15 blueray a few months from now

It just didn't have enough diversity. More black, female and transgender characters would have made it so much better.

Not enough representation for gender-fluid aliens of color. Disney is specieist.

Yeah mainstream only talked about the budget, no mention of CISA.

Everyone that has something to say says it. Then the hoard of indifferent/ignorant masses swallow up what's left of the discussion.

If you're only able to focus on one controversy in modern society then your username is appropriate.

star wars spoilers, such controversy

Why should they? They have absolutely no control over these things.

Assuming they all banded together and voted Rand Paul theyd have a voice at least

Because Rand Paul is a politician that doesn't lie?
DerpExpress ago
No one is perfect but he is a hell of a lot better than almost all the others.

Wasn't the same said about Obama? He gave you "change" alright... a change for the worse.
Not having a go at yu mate, but all politicians seem sweet and nice through the election period.

Well, it's not like he's the scion of a political dynasty, like Clinton or Bush or the Kennedys.
Oh...
When dissent is institutionalized, it's no longer dissent.

No. Hive mind damnit! But only my prefered hive mind. Basically, everyone except me, should stop being individuals.

we should pool resources and buy a private island, make our own sovereign nation.
Only really reasonable course of action if those are our choices for president.

Agreed; and I think food and energy independence is a good insurance policy in the coming century in addition to continuous financial benefits.
