"Don't look over here! LOOK OVER THERE!"

I think its hilarious how obvious all this has become, and yet most people either don't care or don't want to care. Or they're on McReddit and crying as loud as they can about Messiah Sanders having political woes.

We're boned.

What is going to happen if the spectacle is Hillary v. establishment GOP??? :(

we should pool resources and buy a private island, make our own sovereign nation.

Only really reasonable course of action if those are our choices for president.

Not necessarily going too far from your point, I do think communities need to start working towards their own infrastructure if we ever hope to have a starting point of determining our own future. This is in development, but seems like it could be a viable solution to community food growth? I also just started reading about mesh networks, I would love other people's input on this stuff.

Try to organize at a county level. States have tried and failed. Nations could secede -- with UN recognition, which is a mixed bag. Depending on the state, counties seem irrelevant, but... it's possible.

I like it- I think it is definitely possible. You would probably need to be somewhere where the schools and institutions like libraries were county rather than city based.

Not my first rodeo, bub. I'll tell you what else to watch out for: vote stackers. This is my big rage against the fucking Libertarian party. Anytime there's a grassroots movement like this, there's some Libertarian who wants to insert himself. They always have an eye on national prominence, which, in effect, sells out their constituents for their ideology. They're more motivated to promote libertarianism than represent their populace.

As for what the county level enables, what you get is the court system. Any place with a city that overpowers the county will be a rough sell. In part because Federal bodies work with cities but neglect counties. Courts are more important than schools and libraries. A lot of schools have to be compliant with state boards of education (which are potentially constitutional) but that's shifting to the department of education through "No Child Left Behind" (Thanks, Bush).

That makes a lot of sense. I guess I brought up those particular institutions because I think education is one of the strongest ways of promoting real dialogue within a community, and raising awareness so that a maximum amount of people can feel engaged. I think you are right in working towards courts, in particular. Any other words of advice you can give on the subject would be greatly appreciated!

I got no advice, man. I'm pretty depressed these days.
