i thought nominating myself would be suspect. I want this to be a clean sub and the only way to do that is voat. i would love to do this. I have plenty of time (IT guy)and i was the one that brought the issue up :) thanks guys! @kevdude@axolotl__peyotl
At the time Hardeenee or whatever the hell is name is was going totally nuts. So I kept telling ppl to just go to an alternative. The Voat way. But everyone kept saying they didn't want to do that. They also said if I think people should use an alternative, I should make an alternative. So I did. Now I try to have at least 1 new post at least every 24 hours. I looked at a few alternatives, but they had rules that were vague and easy to abuse. I made a sub that had very simple rules, and has never banned or deleted anything. Canada is fucking fucked with Trudeau. We are being censored all the time. So I wanted to make a place that people could feel comfortable saying whatever they want. I saw there were alternatives. But I didn't see any that seemed to avoid the "Be nice" "Be respectful" "Don't be an asshole" rules. That shit is retarded. Fuck that.
v/CanadaEh will always be there for the people who want to say anything they want about Canada without worry they will get censored for it.
That was a great idea. I am comfortable with v/canadians regardless of the sidebar. It was created specifically as an uncensored subverse. Keep up the good work! :)
Whereas deliberately exposing a person through private or inside knowledge may often be a despicable thing to do, exposing someone who leaves a trail on the internet is perfectly appropriate.
The Reddit conspiracy sub banned CNN because of alleged doxxing (which CNN did not do but never mind the facts). That is extremely serious anti-free speech moderator abuse. I could not oppose the first-ever banning of a major site on Conspiracy MORE!
To anyone from Reddit: the "doxxing" rule is a Reddit rule. It does not apply to the entire internet.
We see the shit you pulled on Reddit with admin involvement
I never was in contact with the admins...we had a rogue mod that pulled some real bullshit (which you seem to be against) and they were removed for pulling the bullshit.
I happened to be next in seniority but that has fuck all to do with that situation.
Hard to see how personal attacks could be on topic though. Not saying I would ban or delete, the word I used was 'discourage'.
Doxxing just seems to be a way to intimidate people and get them to self-censor. Only time I have ever been interested in finding out someone's identity was with a pedo apologist/defender on another forum. Even then I didn't out him.
Because feminism is for everyone. Stop watching cringe youtube vids of self professed SJWs who claim to represent feminism but give it a bad name. Feminism is simply respect for the freedom and opportunity of women in society to decide for themselves who they want to be. And also, feminists disagree with each other in many ways. It's not some homogeneous movement of radicals. Do you think women should be able to vote? Congrats your a feminist.
I get why /v/protectvoat is doing this. But come the fuck on.
Why would anyone want to be a mod? they are just here to remove spam posts, hardly fucking exciting.. lmao fucking power hungry nerds. Go back to plebbit.
When it comes to leftist modding? hell fucking no. Its just a matter of time before they start using feelings as arguments. They have less honour than kikes.
Basically I would remove spam, not allow doxxing, discourage personal attacks, and move a thread if it somehow was not relevant to the subverse. I have seen people powertrip once they become mods, and IMO that is pretty sad.
Thanks Trig! Now I'm removed from the running because I don't conform to your politics. Frustrating that the person who is actually active is removed from the running because he doesn't share the majority opinion. On fucking voat of all places.
I originally came to voat to discuss pizzagate. Which has its own thread. I have mainly focused on creating memes and having discussions with people. The beauty of voat is that you can discuss 'conspiracies' every where.
dude. I'm literally not. I stickied a thread asking for people to nominate themselves, and these were the only users that have been around for longer than a month or two.
why didn't you volunteer? are you interested?
This is not the big deal you're making it out to be.
They were the ones that offered in the previous mod nomination thread.
Clearly asking the community here and letting them upvoat wasn't the right solution to adding new mods.
However, I fail to see how stickying a mod nomination thread for 10 days and proceeded to ask the community to vet the top nominations is "low effort."
There is a community of people who don't like diversity of opinion, and for whom voat is nothing more than a childish playground of obscenity and hatred. Against these types you can never win. By giving in to the pressure and threats of brigade, the original intentions of /v/conspiracy will be replaced with conformity to the established opinion.
Like a brigade? Or just an organic collection of similar individuals? It doesn't matter. Not only do I disagree with censorship, by deleting things I would just reaffirm your suspicions!
Maybe I made /v/antifascist as a goof. I might protest things, but I'm not about to wear a mask and swing a club lol.
If I had to put myself in a category, I would say I'm libertarian socialist, a somewhat contradictory position. I'm more disturbed how language can be used against us to disrupt our thought processes, and our ability to unify under one common identity.
I'd be happy to drop /v/antifascist if it make you feel better! There is /v/antifa after all :P
Good question. I would make a post (sticky?) in the tone of our admin requesting community input on the role of moderation in /v/conspiracy. I always enjoy the admin's attempts to listen to the community for good ideas.
it's /v/canada! the main canada sub by name. And it's dead anyways, I rarely post there at all.
I like /v/politics, /v/conspiracy, and /v/worldpolitics (which is also pretty dead).
I want to help voat grow, while still protecting our freedom of expression, and of communication.
When I post to /v/feminism the pretend feminist sub, I respect that my posts are not deleted, even if they are downvoted.
The fact that we can see the vote tallies is enough.
I would describe it more as destroying state sovereignty to advance global corporate power. But yes, a result is the flooding of Europe with immigrants. I would also mention the role that Israel, Saudi Arabia, and America play in driving people out of the Middle East.
I don't think you sincerely want that to be honest. But who knows maybe you do support Mass genocide. That would put you in the company of the global Elite who would happily destroy 90% of humanity so that they can rule the world.
Despite your professed hatred, I know we are on the same team. I would not censor you even if I disagree with you.
I can't think of a reason to delete from /v/conspiracy other then to protect the site from legal threats. For example posting illegal content would be removed. Shit like pedophilia... anything that breaks actual laws. But you can shit up the place calling people turd burgler all day. It might get tiring though.
I think at first I deleted some shit posts, but I realized that it was a waste of time. In short, I don't believe mods should do much of anything except protect the site from legal action by removing illegal content.
Instaban.
Just kidding. I honestly think Flat Earth is the least important 'conspiracy' ever to be broached. It has no impact on anything, wouldn't even change navigation of ships or planes.
Plus there is that inconvenient fact of the South Pole existing (a family friend of mine used to fly prop planes both in the Arctic and Antarctic, landing at the South Pole/Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station).
I would certainly not censor any discussion, least of all discussion of why 'flat earth' became such a popular topic in recent years.
As someone who regularly participates in FE activism irl I am somewhat horrified by your attitude of "it's not important" as it involves an ancient conspiracy to divorce humanity from it's spiritual roots but I am very pleased at least that you do not feel like it's a total waste of time and or that it needs censorship or deletion like so many others - thanks for the response - you have my upvote
That user made a good pitch and is an active participant in /v/conspiracy, but perhaps we should let him speak for himself before breaking out the pitchforks.
I do think that voat mods should take a very passive approach and let the community decide for themselves. Despite our disagreements we have to learn from each other. That's why I'm here.
First of all, I believe in voat as a platform. Corporate media has destroyed reddit and turned it into an extension of Cable News / Associated Press mind control. If we're going to avoid mass enslavement by a global elite of psychopaths, we need to trust each other, and communicate directly, bypassing the traditional gatekeepers of knowledge. I see mods as a necessary evil that should take a passive approach, especially on voat. I want to contribute as a mod to help grow this place, and encourage everyone to have an open mind.
I want to contribute as a mod to help grow this place
Can you elaborate a bit? There are couple points raised here: Why is contributing "as a mod" special? What do you mean by "grow this place" and how would you as mod have anything to do with that?
From my perspective: I am a [J] in v/politics. I did not want to be a J. I didn't volunteer to "grow" the sub. I volunteered because I did not want the job.
I'm gonna have to side with @Trigglypuff on this one. Antifa is cancer. Don't give @sweetholymosiah power unless you're just trying to stir up more shit.
I was just looking at your other 2 options and neither of them are very active users. I would keep the application process open for a while longer. You don't have to pick today.
You'll notice I mostly post to politics and welcome anyone to post to that dead subverse. I'm pro free speech libertarian socialist and I welcome opposing views.
I'm not here to silence others. But I will happily debate people.
Seems to me that it would benefit the sub to have some diversity of opinion. Unless you want to live in your own little safe space. Is that why you come to voat?
No one said you weren't allowed to comment. It just doesn't make sense to hand power to censor others to someone tied to a movement that's contradictory to the majority of VOAT's ideals.
Only for those who are not confident in themselves. I'm here to debate and converse, not destroy the place by censoring and dominating subs like a corporate asshole mod.

The alternative subverse for talk about Canada has been v/canadians for a very long time. That's where I post my cannucky stuff. :)
I guess @Violentlight didn't know.

do you want to mod here? Why or why not? Your passion is certainly qualification enough imo.

Ask him about his FBI trip.
I believe he's well-meaning, but he's had a bunch of personal stuff to deal with and has no conception of what voat is about.
axolotl__peyotl ago
he was siding with flytape though...he neutered me then readded fly...it was rash and the wrong decision.
anthonylancer ago
I'm a dumbass for missing the sticky but I'd be happy to help as a mod
axolotl__peyotl ago
SC is unstable and admitted to turning himself into the FBI, yeah that's a fantastic idea.

TheSeer ago
Is that what I am signing up for? :)
sweetholymosiah ago
When it comes down to it, the value of a platform like voat is based on trust. With all the fucking lies in the MSM we're gotta trust each other.

Please link to relevant threads and describe why you think they are good choices.
What will their positions be? O? M? J? This post stinks of low effort appeasement.

You didn't answer my question. A simple link would be something, at least.
Why would you accuse me of wanting to 'shit up the place'?
Are you advocating for forum sliding?
sweetholymosiah ago
Not you personally. Whoever.

You have yet to answer:
sweetholymosiah ago
I think at first I deleted some shit posts, but I realized that it was a waste of time. In short, I don't believe mods should do much of anything except protect the site from legal action by removing illegal content.
