The prosecutor engaged in a knowing fraud on the court. Should have faced both ethical charges with the bar and criminal charges (falsifying evidence, denial of civil rights, etc). But nothing was ever done about it.
But generally speaking, there are lot of people that have no idea what is happening right now in our country. Some people are just trying to live their lives and being targeted like this catches them completely off guard.
