Any thoughts on living in Alaska? What about the city of anchorage? (whatever)

I've seen the idea floated around on Voat lately, but looking into it, it seems Alaska is high crime. Sucks because I'd love to live up there. There seems to be mainly high crime in Anchorage which is coincidentally the place with the highest amount of jobs.

I lived in Skagway. Alaska is very expensive as most food and products are shipped in. Half of the population is utter trash. Mosquitos galore in the summer, also bears. There isn't much going on but hunting and fishing. It's stupid cold starting from early September through March. It's a good place for isolating
