Is it just on Voat or is your device (phone?) doing it on other sites too?

Nosfewratsjews ago

Only on Voat. I'm not retarded enough to log into Voat on a mobile device, ever. Does the same thing on a Linux system and a Windows system. Randomly injects into the middle of the page on some posts, randomly injects on the outside bars on main pages.

I've observed this for quite some time. Ironically, I first noticed it when the warrant canary died - though it could have been there before that.

honest question: why is it bad to log in with the phone ?

Put simply, a computer can still be (somewhat) hardened.

A phone is a device you pay money for the privilege of a company selling every piece of data it can harvest by spying on you. Government backdoors are built right into phones from the ground up.

ok. thx for the info.

I have never seen anything like that on Voat. Did you do anything special to capture that?

WatchListMe ago

It would be in the JavaScript. Check the code

Night mode and adjusted both contrast and brightness until I saw it, but you can clearly see it on the screenshot either way.

blumen4alles ago

Contrast and brightness on your monitor or in Photoshop-type software of the screenshot?

I did a screenshot and messed with levels but did not see that.

Can you post the entire screenshot or link where you saw that?

Nosfewratsjews ago

It's no longer present on the page where I screenshot it from. It's dynamic. I'll ping you next time I capture one.

Thanks. I saw your other comment after I made that one, don't mean to make you repeat yourself. I will be looking for it myself.

SandHog ago

Huh, no idea. I don't see them when I screenshot stuff.

Nosfewratsjews ago

It's not on all pages and not frequently that it renders. I can only see it in nightmode and with brightness and contrast adjusted.

The screenshot shows it clear as day.

SandHog ago

Yeah, I can see it in your image but I've never seen them on anything that I've taken a screen shot of. Can you find a page where it is reproducible?

Nosfewratsjews ago

It's no longer visible on the page I screencapped it from, so it would appear to be dynamic.
