Once divorced, never should have married her to start. Long term high school sweetheart. She was very pretty and very shallow. Luckily no kids from that one.

Currently happily married.

I was divorced. I finally got tired of the lies and the sleeping around. Married for the second time almost 17 years now

Twice divorced. I was raised by a psychopath and didn't know any better. Psychopaths are drawn to me but now I know how to recognize them and set boundaries.

I did talk therapy with a good therapist.

I asked the right questions - they lied and I couldn't see through it.

I never wanted to get married but I would end up trapped and threatened and give in. It was easier, especially with all the gas lighting.

I also have only had three relationships (two 'boyfriends' in high school for a few months at a time and no sex don't count). I probably should have dated more when I was younger just to learn more.

There is a good chance that the Psychopaths you were raised by and are drawn to you are what are known as Covert Narcissists. They are also known as psychic vampires. I went through this myself. That would also mean that you yourself are codependant. There is no hope for them, but you can be treated. Beware however, you are susceptible to becoming a CN yourself. That is, if I am right in my assessment, but there are so many things you say in 5 sentences that are right in line with these demons.

My theory is that even intelligent people get divorced, because the school never explains how to choose the right partner.

It's a funny thought but it might honestly be a good idea for schools to teach kids how to tell if someone will be a good partner or not. Definitely not in today's cucked political climate, however...
