This was the most thought-provoking post I've ever read on this website.
I've harbored my own suspicions of the United States acting as an enforcer for our central bank throughout the middle east, crushing any government that begins implementing a deflationary, gold-backed currency to do trade with. The motivator in my idea was to maintain our relevance in OPEC, and viciously defend the USD as the de facto petrodollar. See: Libya, Iraq, Syria, Iran.
