I want to share a story with you. I raised my daughter as a single dad. Now, as dad, I was like "Y'all don't DO stuff like that! It's destructive and disruptive!" But, internally, I was as proud of my baby as I'd ever been. It's easy to troll on the internet. You will want to look into 8k posting for majority shareholders. I'd start by looking at a small company you "know" first to get a fell for how to read the document. I wouldn't jump right into a JPM or WF. You'll come to find out that most companies are owned by a trust, or a LLC, or some type of "vehicle" to own these companies. No one wants to "own" per say, but they want to manage it, that way you can remove yourself from the risk as much as possible. Typically you will find that major public companies are owned by a private equity firm at the very very top, which is also owned by another private equity firm, which is owned by a trust, which is owned by ____ .... You get the point. If you want, You can pay for a Bloomberg Terminal for the Low Low cost of $24,000 a year and they'll be able to tell you more than you would ever be able to find on the web.
