Reality is not a liberal fantasy narrative, but that's all you get in the media and from the Democratic Party (and a good portion of the Republican Party).

culturalrealism ago

Look into reading "The Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius.

You are now equipped to grasp his writings about the truth.

DiscontentedMajority ago

So you have gone ahead and proved my point for me. When faced with things that conflict with your established view, you slapped your hands over your ears and screamed "NO NO NO NO NO".

Have fun living in your little bubble where you don't need to explain anything, and anyone who disagrees with you is a liar.

Hand_of_Node ago

I'm not arguing for the quality of the discussion ITT, but 9-11 does raise some valid points above.

DiscontentedMajority ago

You fell for the same thing though didn't you? It's not a difficult assumption that if you lived and grew up in the west that you've been fed a 24/7 diet of Atheist propaganda.

Nope, you go ahead make assumptions about my beliefs because you have no answers for my issues with your cult.

I'm an agnostic who is very open to the idea of their being a god. I've studied all the major religions and have found things to be admired in all of them (maybe not Islam, the Koran reads like a rulebook for being an asshole). That said, when I apply my bullshit filters and take a critical look, almost all of it appears to be a way to make people do as their told.

markrod420 ago

i feel the same. i genuinely do not want niggers or kikes in my society. which is a position that conflicts STRONGLY with the fact that i hate overbearing govt authority. how the fuck is a person to remove niggers and kikes without overbearing authority?? Niggers are easy enough, just cut off the handouts and they will litetally force us to kill them in self defense. but what about the kikes? the niggers are a symptom caused by the real problem and as long as the kikes remain in power no solution will ever work to fix anything.

Hand_of_Node ago

How? Acquire money and training in a wide range of applicable disciplines, then create a secret (or underground) operating group with extremely vetted members who will use any necessary means to remove them. Heart attacks, overdoses, accidents, and other non-obvious means would keep your op in relative stealth mode as you take out the top levels who'd have access to tighter security.

markrod420 ago

good luck organizing that without them figuring it out and offing you first.

Doglegwarrior ago

Just think about this.. and i know this is a big over simplification.

I pay 20k plus a year in property taxes and i just go about my day and if i ever complain every stupid sheeple mother fucker says well ya know what they say is for certain in life? Death and taxes.

Well they raised the tax on tea by 1 perfent in massachusets and they fucking started tarring and feather tax collectors and throwing god damn tea into the sea!

Our forefathers royaly fucked us over by allowing jews to infest this country and it started in 1913 with the fucking federal reserve.. people dont know the history but this country fought that den if vipers for hundred plus years until it finaly bit us on the neck and infected the country with infinite debt.

DiscontentedMajority ago

I'm willing to accept the idea of a deity. My problem is that Christianity (really all organized religion) is clearly a fabricated scheme to control people. It has all the hallmarks of a scam and falls apart the minute you stop playing their game.

For a few examples:

How do you resolve the issue of the council of Nicea using their own human minds to decide what god's words were amongst the conflicting testimonies?

Did god want the traditions of pagan religions to be folded into Christianity in order to encourage converts?

How do you explain dozens of historical gods and demi-gods having the same origin story as Jesus, but thousands of years before he was supposed to live?

NotHereForPizza ago

That's called critical thinking.

While you don't seem to do it often, it's very good for you. Try it out more frequently.

I live in a very left wing, liberal area. Pretty much everyone I talk to disagrees with most things I believe in, and some of them think I must be a bad person for not holding left wing beliefs. It's tough, but coming to a free speech site like Voat brings me some comfort.

The greatest gift you can give someone is a redpill, it's at the same time handing them a burden. It's all very confusing that way.

Meaning and responsibility go hand in hand.

No responsibility, you feel meaningless.

Too much responsibility, you feel overburdened like the whole world rests on your shoulders.

Man needs to find himself the proper weight to lift, get good at it, then add a little more, but not too much.

Backstory?

TexasVet ago

I was in a bind. Started a gofundme. Gofundme went kinda viral. Got ALOT more donations than what I asked for. Couple months later I had a job. Used a portion of the gofundme money to buy a rifle. Because I used the money for something other than food this asshat has non stop harassed me. Made claims that I was never a veteran and that I have defrauded my donors. I provided overwhelming proof that I am indeed a military veteran so now he focuses on how he thinks I should pay back the gofundme donors. Which is impossible. even if I could which donors get paid back? Because I used a large portion of the money for what it was donated for. Food rent utilities etc. There are laws against online harassment and I have reported him at FBI.gov and emailed the voat admin informing him that a possible lawsuit will come of this. Voat may be required to provide his IP address if a court order says they have to.

Behold, your inner reddifaggotry shines through. Good luck on your censorship quest.

antiliberalsociety ago

Please remind us the reasoning behind it. Never mind I'll do it.

  1. You didn't shut it down when it hit the $500 goal, instead you clasped your hands as it kept growing because "poor unemployed vet" that saw no action and has zero proof it's actually true. (The pix you did provide never compared your face to the ID)
  2. You bought rifles with it bcause "muh fam needed the protection!"
  3. You never considered paying back the donors because you say it's impossible then defend using it on non necessities.

TexasVet ago

Alright you obviously will never stop. I will call a lawyer today to see what my options are in a court of law.

Hand_of_Node ago

If I have this straight, you made a personal gofundme and asked for $500. You got $5000. Then you spent the money on various personal expenses. For those who gave you free money, it's rather irrelevant if you spent it on food or toys. They freely gave you the money, and you spent it, even if your claims of "need" were false. What do people expect from giving money to a random person with a good story?

I will call a lawyer today to see what my options are in a court of law.

Have you thought about starting a gofundme for your expenses?

TexasVet ago

No way. The only reason I would ever consider using gofundme again would be if I were in dire need. Legal expenses are not dire. Besides I doubt that there is any real legal action I could take against an anonymous username on the internet anyway.

Hand_of_Node ago

Was meant more as a dry joke, given that it's your previous gofundme that led to this disagreement. I would probably go homeless or die before putting my real name on the internet, especially if I were in a situation that dire.

Sorry, but there are lawyers who would take this. Not legitimate lawyers, but every profession has bottom feeders.

antiliberalsociety ago

They might take his money, but there's no way it's going to court. What's your "Turing test" for NPCs?

Caesar_was_right ago

I don't think there's a bulletproof test; you can just tell after talking to someone for a few minutes if they have a soul or not. Something along the lines of curiosity, a passion for some study, the ability to recognize when there is a difference between what someone says and what someone means.

It usually happens both ways, too. The new soul you meet will recognize a soul in you.

Hand_of_Node ago

there is a difference between what someone says and what someone means.

The spread is sometimes so huge that it's the exact opposite of their probable intended meaning. When their malfunction is pointed out, some will appreciate the correction, while others will get angry as a way to further illustrate their lack of a soul.

Caesar_was_right ago

Agreed. Self-awareness is a highly practiced discipline among humans. NPCs cannot accept criticism or exam a problem from a position other than "me vs you".

One more reason a two-party system is awful, NPCs fall for demagoguery.

CowWithBeef ago

Think of a topic that had a clear and unnatural media narrative, like Kavanaugh. Bring it up. If they mention the forced narrative as if it's their own opinion(his temperament) they're an NPC.

Jesus reminds me of a recent situation.. 3 older but decent lookingnwomen came into a hole in the wall bar.. i was there drunk and bored. They used to be hot you could tell.. so i startdd talking to them and told them how when i was younger i would always go up to the best looking girls when i was out and ask the girls to tell me an intersting story something that happend to them or somestory they rememered.. ya i never got the hot girls because i never once heard a good story.. the girls i asked this got super offended and freaked out.. the bartender almost had to kick me out.. i started making them cash offers for one good story.. they acted as if i pulled my pants down and took a shit in the bar.. how do you live to 30 and not have one good fucking story..

Chchch ago

Lol this is hilarious. So you're mad they didn't give some random drunken schizo a story for money? Are you even real?

Doglegwarrior ago

Also i dream of people offering me money to tell a story at a bar.. what world do you live in that that is a bad thing?

Doglegwarrior ago

Did you read my post.. yes that night i was the drunkin weirdo at the hole in the wall bar.. i agree 100 percent so lets agree on that.. back in the day though i was a very good looking in shape ex college basketball player and had decent money not like i have now but i was not broke.. i had good looking girl friends and would go out alot.. at that point i would talk to good looking girls get a conversation going then id ask them to tell a an iteresting story either their own or one they heard.. i would also say i dont want a sexual story so it wouldnt be creepy...

Crickets my friend and pissed off faces after that as if i offended them by asking for a story..

Do you have more to add beyond name calling and general fsggotry cuckboy? Name calling is completely acceptable here btw not a critisim

I hate to say it faggot, but you're the creeper at the bar now. Saying you don't want a sexual story just makes it creepier. Maybe try having a normal conversation starter before going all gas the kikes on people.

Doglegwarrior ago

Are u a retard? I basicaly agreed i was the older creeper guy i admited it was weird .. when i was younger and obviously attracting these women based on my looks and charm at the time.. aka not a creeper ... i would ask them thd same question and get crikets? They had not interesting stories?

Can you come up with a point beyond calling me names? Can you strengthen your argument rather then raise your faggorty emotions stronger.. jesus christ you beta cucks are weak mentaly

HulkInformation ago

While I agree that Christianity is important and a great benefit to many people who follow it, it's also impossible to pick up on its own. You need to be given that shit at birth. So far nobody, at all, has articulated why or how it's true. If you don't already believe it, it's off the menu.

Ceegen ago

Not at all.

To really "get it", you have to take that leap of faith and reach out to God with 100% certainty that he will be there to catch you. Without belief, why bother? The bible is filled with supernatural events and explanations, and if that can't be taken at face value as part of the learning experience, you'll never understand. Studying the bible is quite literally the same as studying a brand-new language, scientific theory or brand of philosophy.

Do you know much about programming? Computer science? Put another way, reading the bible is a lot like bootstrapping. You have to learn these new patterns for the pattern recognition to sink in, and the only way you can do that is by believing there is a pattern there to study in the first place. If there isn't anything there to learn, then why bother attempting to learn? -- This is something that is true, no matter what you're trying to learn, the bible included. That leap of faith comes with the fact that you have to actually sit down and read it yourself, because no amount of anyone (least of all me) explaining it to you, could ever replace the experience of reading it first-hand for yourself.

But, from experience, I would suggest a few things should you decide to actually undertake this endeavor: 1. Use an Authorized "King James" Version bible: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." - 2nd Timothy chapter 2, verse 15. 2. Pray for God to give you understanding: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." - Proverbs chapter 3, verse 5. 3. Don't get frustrated with not knowing what something means. It takes time, and if you're young and don't have a lot of "life experience" then some of what the bible discusses isn't going to make sense to you anyway. 4. Some times, the truth really is simple. 5. If the bible is true (and I only say "if" for the sake of argument), then Satan is real, and you're in deeper shit than you think. The attacks will come, and from places you never thought possible. Are you taking flak? Then you're over the target. Some times the flak comes in the form of pleasure and not pain, to pacify you into submission and dull your senses. Don't take this lightly.

As for articulating how or why it's true? Yeah, that is kinda like trying to explain why the sky is blue or grass is green. It just is. The technical reasons behind why that is, has taken me nearly two decades of research on my own to even begin to scratch the surface of... But I've come across PhD-level thinkers who believe the bible is true, like Gary Habermas or John Lennox. There are some great YouTube videos of them you could start out with.

Geniuses like Isaac Newton (a deist) didn't necessarily believe the bible to be true, but still had beliefs that transcended the bounds of known reality. Newton actually wrote more about the bible, despite his disbelief (as a deist) of it, than of his scientific discoveries. He thought that the bible contained alchemy recipes and other hidden/secret knowledge, for example. It's actually more common than not among geniuses to have weird beliefs, because reality is just too weird to be normal.

HulkInformation ago

My suggestion would be in that case, if that is true and the devil is real then there's a much bigger problem than just what's going to happen to me.

There's billions of people in a lot of trouble. The question I'm concerned about is "what is true". The best tools available for finding out what is true aren't listed in your quite insightful comment. That's a big problem that needs to be addressed otherwise atheism is going to become adopted at an incredible rate.

I don't even think it's a Jewish conspiracy. The idea that I and everyone else are going to be punished for seeking truth, when it's a fault with god for not communicating more effectively.

What I was really trying to pressure for, was to find a way to convince me and others like me that we're wrong. And it isn't going to happen for many of us without some kind of reason why we're wrong.

Ceegen ago

"The question I'm concerned about is 'what is true'."

Shortly before being executed, Pontius Pilate asked Jesus 'What is truth'? (John ch18 v38). Jesus never answered him. Why?

Philosophically speaking, you can't prove anything to anyone if they don't want to believe it is true. Jesus knew this, hence why he never answered him. So a question of what is true/truth, really boils down to a personal belief of what you think is true, regardless of anything else. Because ultimately, truth is based on authority, and the authority of the self can dismiss or permit anything it wishes.

"What I was really trying to pressure for, was to find a way to convince me and others like me that we're wrong."

There's a fallacy for every argument, an excuse for every reason. Why would you believe some random person on the internet? What could I possibly say that would convince you that you are wrong? I've been attempting to explain why I believe what I do over the years to many people, but it eventually boils down to me being a 'dumb, brain-washed theist', and I just give up. Do you really want your mind changed, or, are you happy with what you already have?

"And it isn't going to happen for many of us without some kind of reason why we're wrong."

What is your definition/understanding of "spiritual" or "supernatural"? Have you ever had a spiritual/supernatural experience?

HulkInformation ago

I think I have, a couple of times I had run-ins with ghosts in my childhood. Particularly a cabin of the parents of one of my friend's. What is a ghost, was it ghosts, etc.

Nothing like that has happened for quite some time and I am pretty sure there are natural explanations. Could be something my mind made up combined with natural phenomenon like wind and shadows in an old cabin. You know could be a lot of things maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

Have you ever tried drugs? Some of those can do some pretty funky stuff to your mind, can make you question a lot about what experiences are real. You realise you depend on your mind a lot to evaluate surroundings and it can invent some crazy stuff. You can end up making the decision empirical evidence is a lot more valuable than personal experience, not that personal experience is totally discounted. It's a big part of the reason that eyewitness testimony isn't highly valued in court. Is that people remember things that aren't true.

There are a lot of asshole atheists out there who would call you a dumb theist. That's in part because they've been in the exact same conversations hundreds of times and they're sick of not getting the same answers and having to explain their position again. Atheists spend much more time getting trapped in those conversations than the other way around. If you can imagine, it is as frustrating the other way around to talk to religious people as to talk to atheists about religion.

I always want my mind changed. What specifically I believe isn't as important as believing what is correct. If my mind never changed I'd never learn anything. That doesn't mean that I want to become religious, I would become religious if it was correct and it's not.

Ceegen ago

"I think I have, a couple of times I had run-ins with ghosts in my childhood."

Perhaps you did, but this is not the end-all be-all of definitive spiritual things. Take for instance your imagination. You can close your eyes and travel to look at the great pyramids of Egypt, be the captain of a fleet of star-ships descending into the atmosphere of an enemy planet, or relive your 9th birthday. Things like this, your dreams and even memories of past events is what the bible includes as being spiritual... And yes, it all happens in your head. That's the whole point. It really is just in your head. All of it.

"What is a ghost."

Question or statement? The biblical perspective on supernatural phenomenon, is very different than what contemporary popular sources would indicate, with a bit of a catch-22 attached to it. However, I would be so bold as to ask you: What do the presence of "ghosts" imply?

"Nothing like that has happened for quite some time and I am pretty sure there are natural explanations."

There is such thing as being so skeptical, that you don't believe anything. That's pretty much the nihilistic point of view, and that is where that road leads. It's the ultimate in skepticism.

"Have you ever tried drugs?"

Yep. Smoked a shit-ton of marijuana. Was laced with PCP once, didn't know it, and that was the night I watched the animated movie "Spawn" of comic-book fame. Absolute horror show. Everything was hyper-real comic-book colors. Worst high ever. I cowered on the couch, unable to move, unable to look away from the TV screen. Made for a great story to tell others though. Do not recommend.

I don't smoke, drink or smoke anymore. Swore it all off. Might have a beer or glass of wine every now and then, but don't go to bars or get shitfaced anymore. Realized it's a waste of time and money, in addition to ruining my health, but I owe this renewed sense of responsibility to reform myself entirely upon the bible. Reading it has changed me.

"You can end up making the decision empirical evidence is a lot more valuable than personal experience, not that personal experience is totally discounted. It's a big part of the reason that eyewitness testimony isn't highly valued in court."

But empirical evidence is based on observation and personal testimony, including that of other people. You're still relying on your senses to give you good information, the same senses that would otherwise make you a terrible witness in a court of law. What's worse is when we have test methods and instruments that are faulty or misleading. Correlation does not equal causation. Et cetera. There are lots of problems, even with empiricism.

Side note: The problem with witness testimony in a court, is directly proportional to how long ago the events transpired. It is a tactic of lawyers to delay court proceedings as long as possible, so that time can play tricks on a witness's memory to their advantage.

Again, this seems to have a lot to do with truth being based on authority: Who or what is your authority for what is true? What does the final self-authority allow into your mind as being true? The whole of human knowledge is based on things that happened in other people's minds... How much of it do you believe is true?

"There are a lot of asshole atheists out there who would call you a dumb theist."

Yeah trust me I know, lol.

"That doesn't mean that I want to become religious, I would become religious if it was correct and it's not."

Yeah, well, are you sure? Willing to bet your soul on that? Is there a line you won't cross? Because on the one hand, you might want your mind changed... But on the other hand, you just flat out said that all this religion stuff isn't correct. Which is it? Honestly? Am I wasting my time?

But empirical evidence is based on observation and personal testimony, including that of other people. You're still relying on your senses to give you good information

That's why though that shared experience is important. That's why peer review is important. We all have to rely on our senses, if we didn't agree that senses are somewhat reliable that would be a path to solipsism which is insanity and completely useless for learning anything.

There is such thing as being so skeptical, that you don't believe anything. That's pretty much the nihilistic point of view, and that is where that road leads. It's the ultimate in skepticism.

Perhaps it really is. I don't think about it that way. There's been a million dollars available to anyone that can demonstrate the existence of anything supernatural, it's been on the table since 1964. We could quibble over the criteria for earning the money but nobody has ever done it. All the cases of people trying are available, we can read about the attempts and why they didn't qualify. That's a whole lot of evidence to sift through.

So I find that convincing, if ghosts did exist and they were the classical understanding that it's souls, then ghosts would mean souls exist.

The whole of human knowledge is based on things that happened in other people's minds... How much of it do you believe is true?

The parts of it that are demonstrable.

I really don't think the world is that complicated that we can't hold true any constants that have been uncovered over a few million years. Could you flesh this idea out some more? I'm having trouble following you here.

Because on the one hand, you might want your mind changed... But on the other hand, you just flat out said that all this religion stuff isn't correct. Which is it? Honestly? Am I wasting my time?

This religious stuff isn't correct, that's my position. You knew that, so why is me re-iterating it a problem?

If the only reason you are talking to me is to convert me, and my position is that you are wrong, then my judgement would be that you are wasting your time. Are you asking me so that you can leave the conversation, you don't have to be talking to me.

"That's why though that shared experience is important. That's why peer review is important."

Truth is not a consensus vote, and if you think bias doesn't exist at the peer-review level, I would have to emphatically disagree.

"We all have to rely on our senses, ..."

Yes, exactly. But why are our senses reliable? At all? How is it possible to use senses that we know are faulty in some cases, and yet say they're not faulty in others? Again, the authority of truth boils down to what you want to believe is true, with or without reasons attached to them.

"... if we didn't agree that senses are somewhat reliable that would be a path to solipsism which is insanity and completely useless for learning anything."

Agreed. The slippery slope on one side is nihilism, and on the other is solipsism. Staying sane is a struggle.

"There's been a million dollars available to anyone that can demonstrate the existence of anything supernatural, it's been on the table since 1964."

What constitutes proof? How do you use natural means, to prove something that is supernatural? By definition, you can't. It's impossible. This million-dollar challenge is pointless, and will never be fulfilled.

"Could you flesh this idea out some more? I'm having trouble following you here."

The whole of human knowledge is based on things that happened in other people's minds. Taking the extreme case, that this all didn't exist 5 minutes ago, then history is merely the construct of someone or something else which uploaded it to your brain. Or something like that. You can be as skeptical as you want about certain things, while permitting others. Why do you believe some, while rejecting others? That's basically where that was headed, provided just as an example.

"This religious stuff isn't correct, that's my position. You knew that, so why is me re-iterating it a problem?"

No, I didn't know that, and don't know you. 100% new here. I don't assume anything about anyone based on a single comment.

"If the only reason you are talking to me is to convert me, and my position is that you are wrong, then my judgement would be that you are wasting your time. Are you asking me so that you can leave the conversation, you don't have to be talking to me."

Yeah, my goal is to convert people. That is what believers are called to do, because attempting to rescue people from the certainty of hell, is of paramount importance. You might have had a supernatural experience with a ghost at one point in your life, but I've seen some things I just can't explain too, and believe me I tried explaining it naturally. Hell is real, and it is reserved for those who deserve it. Why do you think you don't deserve to go to hell? Why would God create hell, and send people there? What is the purpose of life, if the default is hell? There are a lot of questions that are attached to this whole thing, and usually when I press people to talk about them, they don't, because feels.

Assisting in the salvation of unbelievers was a command that Jesus gave to his disciples, and is a command that hasn't just gone away because it has been a long time. How else am I supposed to do that, without talking about the things that are pertinent to the discussion? Like, I could attempt to convince you that you're wrong, but would it hurt your feelings to be blatant and blunt about it? How skeptical are you, that you've already determined that I'm wasting my time with you, simply because I'm trying to convert you? You've built it into your replies that I can't convince you, even though you said "I always want my mind changed". So, I'd like to point out that this is contradictory nonsense, but this is usually where a conversation breaks down into insult flinging. So... What now?

Are you taking flak? Then you're over the target.

A major flaw in an otherwise outstanding comment, and probably one of the worst of the "Q" memes. In my experience, the people "taking flak" usually deserve to be "assisted" in exiting their vehicle, tased, handcuffed, and taken to jail. Most people "taking flak" deserve every bit of the flak they're getting, and usually a lot more. That meme would be less annoying if it were in a low-quality blather about "Q", but here it's like a turd in the middle of a banquet table.

This is what happens when you let the "Q" infection take root. Please seek a cure.

It gets the idea across, at the very least. When dealing with an intelligent enemy, it is hard to tell if you're really over the target should they just "go dark" -- No response at all. Otherwise, the idea that taking flak is an erroneous one is a double dose of doubt, by getting the person to doubt if what they're doing is actually their fault even if it really isn't. But, that is the level of manipulation that Satan is capable of.

This does bring up a good point though, in that we must always be self-critical. Without an examination of our selves, there is no room for growth. Being too critical stifles growth just the same as not enough.

One of the biggest red pills I’ve ever taken was when I realized the New Testament is a warning about the Synagogue of Satan.

Thank you I will. I am not as black pilled as you think I am though. I revel in my extremism. I long for battle and Valhalla.

That's funny, you can't even handle a Voat user calling you out for the fraud you are.

Find a belief system you feel is right, independent of everyone else's opinions and then stick with it until such time you find it needs changing, then change it.

The more people you listen to the more confused you will get.

The fuck you say? Why the hell would a white nationalist like myself want to have anything to do with that Jew. No bitch I need nature and maybe Odin, but not Jesus.

You're a fucking pagan? Why am I not surprised

TexasVet ago

I have reported you to the FBI. This has gone on for way too long. Your longterm sustained harassment of me is against the law.

You are starting to sound like a faggot

MDEneverdies1488 ago

Why the fuck do you let it bother you? Harassment? This dude is literally just exposing your dishonesty. Just admit that you were wrong and move on. Perhaps donate money equal to the surplus you got from GoFundMe to a charity that helps people in your former situation. Atone for your sins or grow some thick skin.

TexasVet ago

Dishonesty? How did you reach that conclusion? I was in need at the time of the gofundme. I put a modest goal of only $500 dollars. It is not my fault the gofundme went viral. I used the money for its intended purpose. It was not until later after I was back on my feet that I used a portion of it for a non essential item. I also used some of the funds to help another person out that was in an even worse bind than I was. I have done nothing wrong nor have I been dishonest in any way.

Oh look at the freedom fighter yearning for authoritarian intervention lol.

Self cull immediately you fraud.
