A few weeks ago we reported that around $1 billion worth of cocaine (15,500 kilos) was seized from a container ship at a Philadelphia port after having stopped in Colombia, Chile, Peru, Panama and the Bahamas (subsequently it turned out that it was a record $1.3 billion, or 18,000 kilos worth).
Today we learn that the vessel, the MSC Gayane, is owned by JP Morgan, and has been seized by US authorities according to the Wall Street Journal. The Gayane is the world's second-largest container ship - operated by Switzerland-based Mediterranean Shipping Co, MSC.

As of October 2014, Diego Aponte (son of MSC founder Gianluigi Aponte) was named president and chief executive of MSC, taking over from his father who was named group executive chairman. Gianluigi Aponte would continue to oversee all group related activities as well as supporting Diego in shaping the future of MSC.

Supporters of Mercy Ships’ Cargo Day turned out in force for a “thank you” Geneva lakeside gala ball. More than 250 guests toasted the raising of $673,000 at the 2017 event and a total of $1m in the two years since Cargo Day was launched.
Special guests at the Hotel Beau-Rivage included Diego Aponte, president and chief executive of Geneva-based Mediterranean Shipping Co, and Guillaume Barazzone, a member of the lower house of the Swiss parliament.
Also at the event was Hu Xiang, president of Tianjin Xingang Shipyard, which is constructing a new purpose-built hospital vessel for Mercy Ships. Per Westling, managing director of Stena RoRo, which has been involved in the concept design and newbuilding supervision, outlined progress on the new ship, Global Mercy. Brokers and traders, including members of the organising committee, who visited the existing ship, Africa Mercy, in Cameroon last month recounted their experience onboard during the ball. Cargo Day supporter awards were made to Trafigura (Best Charterer), BRS (Best Broker) and Louis Dreyfus (Highest Donation). TradeWinds received a special award as Cargo Day partner.
WHAT IS CARGO DAY? The shipping and trading community are able to support and raise funds for Mercy Ships, an organisation which operates the world’s largest civilian hospital ship.

Voat post re Mediterranean Shipping Company:
3 U.S. diplomats have been linked to this investigation. Are the Diplomats of D.C. using their DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY for human trafficking? | We give you the run down.
Syga Thomas, Mary Sue Conway and Wylita Bell are all linked to this investigation one way or another...They are also U.S. DIPLOMATS.
Syga Thomas is a board member of the Dupont Underground Initiative https://archive.is/qvfWb
In 2014 Thomas used the services of MSC to ship items from Spain. This of course is not incriminating in itself but it is useful to note. His connections have been of interest to us ...
