trust the plan

Do we really want a wall? The Soviet Union put one up to keep CITIZENS from escaping! The only wall that will keep drug and child traffickers out is AN UNDERGROUND WALL.

JUST LIKE ISRAEL: "The Israeli military is speeding up construction of its first underground border wall.

The 40-mile-long wall will run the length of Israel's border with the Gaza Strip to counter tunnels that Palestinian militants have dug into Israeli territory.

Dozens of tunnels, reportedly running dozens of miles long, have been constructed in attempts to infiltrate Israeli territory and carry out attacks, according to the Israeli military.

"This is now a significant game changer," said Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus.

Work on the "obstacle," as the military dubs it, began last summer. About 2.5 miles are already complete. Now the military says it is accelerating construction, working 24 hours a day, six days a week — breaking only for the Sabbath — to complete the wall by mid-2019." https://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2018/01/24/579180146/israel-speeds-up-underground-border-wall-to-block-gaza-tunnels

I guess I should have added an /s...

no... i'm in favor of building large "funneling" landscape additions rather than a wall... to be coupled with autonomous drones, vidya towers and voluntary minuteman/bountyhunter bases placed at the northern edges of the funneling zones.

This does not address the UNDERGROUND drug/child trafficking TUNNELS. The Israelis get it.

"Massive 240-yard drug smuggling tunnel with lights, air shafts and sophisticated support beams linked Mexican cartels with Arizona strip mall"

"Costly: The well-engineered passage to the US cost up to $1.5 million to build and was likely operated by the brutal Sinaloa drug cartel" https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2172871/Sophisticated-drug-smuggling-tunnel-linking-Arizona-Mexican-drug-cartels.html

"Agents find two border drug tunnels with rail systems" http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-border-drug-tunnels-20140404-story.html

"“These cartels have spent years and tens of millions of dollars trying to create a secret underworld of passages so they can move large quantities of drugs,” said Laura Duffy, the United States attorney for the San Diego region." https://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/01/us/tunnel-for-smuggling-found-under-border-tons-of-drugs-seized.html

"A pioneer in the use of tunnels as a means of escape as well as a way around (or underneath) border security, Guzman has commissioned scores of elaborate passageways, some even boasting rail systems, to haul millions of dollars in narcotics into the United States. With these illicit feats of engineering becoming commonplace tools for his organization, the question is, who's helping design and dig?" https://www.curbed.com/2015/7/13/9941210/cartel-el-chapo-drug-tunnel-architect-construction

i have zero experience with tunneling or smuggling, but it seems to me that tunnels would have to be utilized in areas that have buildings and basements and such for camouflage purposes. My funneling idea wouldn't work in the cities anyway...

the vast majority of the border isn't built up enough to accommodate the use of tunnels... that's just my 2 cents... maybe there's long tunnels out in the desert somewhere...
