John Wedger speaks about the corruption he's been trying to blow the lid off. His testimony sheds a bright light on why police are too afraid to tackle this issue. Share this far and wide.
UK cop (John Wedger) finds huge child prostitution ring, most in care/known to social services. Most addicted to crack or heroin.
Pimp was a prolfic female prostitute "well known to police". Allegedly had connection to high ranked officers, a magistrate, a "high-up exec" in the BBC. Said to have acted with "impunity" for years, and her operation had lasted "a long long time".
John gives report to a senior officer, was told the case was dropped. When pressured, he said the order came from "high-up" and as an apology would give him any job he wanted.
(This was not the first time a child-abuse case had been rejected. Years prior, a pedophile that had failed to register was discovered to be living on a boat on the UK rivers with another pedo. This was at the same time a children's TV programme heavily featured canal boats- Rosie and Jim. When he looked into the two on the boat, it lead to a network of 90. A high ranked officer told him the investigation was shut down due to not being able to afford the funding. This then lead to how a fellow Scotland Yard Officer warned him how investigating child abuse cases did not earn praise, and how he had dealt with a cabinet minister who had been investigated multiple times, and on multiple occasions they were shut down.)
John moved to the vice unit, and "every day" lead to another case of child abuse that was "spiraling".
John was brought before someone who is "now a very very high ranking" officer in the UK. He said to John that he had "dug too deep". And said if he ever disclosed what he had discovered, that he would lose his job, his home, and his children. "You must shut the F up, you will be thrown to the wolves.". He then outright threatened the officer claiming any discussion of the meeting or complaints would go in the bin, and fellow officers "will not betray fellow rank".
Main witness (the young girl) had been found dead shortly after due to a "suspicious drug overdose".
John moved onto child abuse investigations. He explained the different divisions under the police force was due to remits and "justifiable reasons for doing nothing as oppose to something".
John asked another officer (possibly senior?) if anyone was looking into children's homes. He was told no, and the officer that had been looking into it had turned up nothing and left 2 years prior. "No problem."
John outright asked "are there any problems with child prostitution in the kid's homes". The officer was adamant there was not.
John later got a fax "within minutes" of the prior conversation from social services with a list of 26 children's homes. John called the faxer and asked "how many children go missing at the weekends". He stated "out of 5- 3." When pressured, he confessed they were being pimped out. The officer in his job prior had found nothing in 2 years, by the end of the week John had found 50 cases of child abuse.
John arranged a meeting with many groups "charities, NGOs, Social Services" and highlighted the problem. He was then "harangued and attacked" by the head of children's services of the borough. John complained that he had done nothing, while the head claimed since the kids were "earning money", had a "boyfriend" (Pimp), and "thought this was love", they "were not worried". Their drug use also meant social services had "written them off".
John then claims the children's homes had regular logs of when the kids went missing, and Missing Person's Units did not investigate or look into what was happening when they went missing. Child abuse units did not investigate because someone was keeping them out. Vice Units did not deal with them as they were under social care's jurisdiction due to care-orders.
After the meeting John had, he was shut down and moved again.
He came forward again a few years later, fearing his children were at risk. "I know how powerful the police are and I know what they are capable of". This attempt at whistle blowing had someone tell John it would be taken "to the highest level". When he asked to speak to a high-ranked female detective, he was questioned but it was eventually allowed. John said to her that he wanted to speak to her since she "could not roll up her trouser leg" (persubaly a metaphor for not being knee-deep in the scandal). She said she knew exactly what he meant.
They (the female officer?) brought corruption charges against 3 high-ranked officers. This usually results in regular updates every 28 days- John had not recieved one in three years as it was passed from unit to unit. The last department to have it (the IPTC) also did not update, despite having corroborating evidence.
John met with other police whistleblowers via concerned MPs. One was Maggie Oliver, who had exposed the Rotchdale scandal, another Lenny Harper who exposed a children's home in Jersey. Both warned John he would be served gross misconduct papers, sacked, go to court, and possibly jail. In addition, the threats of losing job, home, and children from earlier.
John stopped getting paid by the police. He went without wages for 3 years, despite needing to look after 3 children. John was served gross misconduct papers over numerous "data protection violation". Something John noted was a "common occurence"- possibly hinting that other cases like it may have been used to silence officers who also spoke out. Each misconduct could have a 2 year prison sentence if found guilty.
During this period, one of John's children was involved in an accident that initially declared him dead until revived. This left him on life support for "many many months" and effectively brain-dead.
