In 2013, microchipped Disney MagicBands (MB) made the news. Prior to that it was believed that these MB's could not be read at a distance and were only purposeful and useful within millimeters of the readers to pay for purchases or join the FASTPASS+ line. That all changed when online reports of people returning from vacation discovered that in their online MyDisneyExperience Account, there were the PhotoPass pictures taken when the MB's were scanned AND photos of them while on rides. MB's are not swiped at rides.
Also in 2013, a Congressman asked CEO Iger if this technology could be used to exploit children - "Disney CEO Iger responded vigorously but this was not the national press the company usually seeks out."
And the final piece de resistance is the recent news/rumors regarding Iger running for President.
It just keeps getting deeper every single day.

Interesting, someone found Disney bands in Podesta's text messages, on wikileaks awhile back. https://m.imgur.com/a/4jt4x https://voat.co/v/pizzagate/1769781
