Hitler was evil, then? Do you care to show any evidence of that? When the "Nazis" invaded France the first thing they did was tour the museums of art and history. Hitler found modern art a gross perversion. Come to think of it, you don't find many fascist arryan supremacists behind the modern art movement. But, Hitler is evil I guess.

Hitler's use of art to control culture was cynical, not idealistic. When the Nazis staged the "Degenerate Art" show they cynically used the principles of modern art in their display techniques in order to sell their agenda to the people. Design was purposefully used to strike terror into the human heart by Hitler and the Nazis, in such forms as SS symbolism and uniforms.

Yes Hitler was evil because his mind had been twisted by racism and he used the state to construct genocide programs, not necessarily because of his taste in art. Using the state to crush humanity is by definition evil - it exists in almost all modern governments today, the question is only to what degree.

Hitler was in fact a pioneer of modernism - the modern expression or art of The State As Instrument of Evil, characterized by the use of technology, propaganda and corporatism combined with unlimited greed, hubris and need for total control (globalism) resulting in fear, repression, war, genocide, destruction and, if left unchecked - total annihilation.

Even if I'm not 100% sold on your conclusions, I certainly didn't expect such a high quality response. Interesting. My trend has been to absolve Hitler of most of the claims made about him. But I can't automatically dismiss the points you've made about him.

I really appreciate your measured response. It is a discussion worth having. Part of my philosophy is that, like it or not, Hitler was a product of the state of our own collective humanity.

Hitler was a product, alright.
