I came across an article from Jan 2016 talking about a Pizza Party thrown by the Republican Governor of New Mexico. Apparently police responded to noise complaints from the Gov's hotel room. She contacted police and advised them to call off their looking into it any further. http://nmpolitics.net/index/2016/01/pizza-socks-emotional-outbursts-exacerbate-nms-problems/#
In protest of the Gov's pizza party mishap, upwards of about 20 democrats attended the "State of the State" in NM wearing pizza socks. However, what caught my eye was the blatant boy lover symbol on the socks. http://archive.is/NCI3k
This article talks about how Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez had been confronted by the media to see if he would show his pizza socks, but according to the article "He first refused to acknowledge the question, but then changed his mind." https://archive.is/G7di9 Why the hesitation Senator Sanchez? Perhaps some digging into Michael Sanchez is necessary.
Here is an article which shows a pic of Senator Joseph Cervantes actually wearing the boy lover pizza logo. http://archive.is/ERD02
One of the previous articles mentioned NM Senate Majority Whip Leader Michael Padilla also wore pizza socks along with Senator Sanchez. Haven't done any digging on him but I quickly was able to find out he is owner of an Albuquerque pizza joint called Wise Pies. http://wisepiespizza.com/wisepies-pizza-salad-grows-new-concept-called-joint/ This might also be worth looking into.
This could be all coincidental, but cmon. State senators wearing pizza socks with boy lover symbols on them. This sounds pretty fishy to me.

Well for sure the manufacturer of the socks should be looked into. Also would be interesting to know just who was on the guest list of a party whose consumption of "pizza & Coke" reached such a volume as to solicit a call to LEO. Also a list of senators who wore the socks would be good. The Jan. 2016 date is definitely significant. Excellent find OP. Upvoat 4 U.

It looks like these socks were sold and exclusive to the 'TOPMAN' store. https://m.topman.com/en/tmuk/product/mint-pizza-and-pop-socks-4161305
The guy who owns Topman 'Sir Philip Nigel Ross Green' has an interesting bio. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Green
Green was born on 15 March 1952 in Croydon, south London, into a middle class Jewish family.
In May 2007, after the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in Portugal, Green donated £250,000 as a monetary reward for any useful public information.[18] He also gave the McCanns the use of his private jet to allow them to fly to Rome for a Papal visit.
