Many OTHER investigators, including the former lead detective on the case (who was subsequently removed in the wake of pressure from the British government) -- believe that she died there in the Portugal apartment. Those investigators include the Forensics Linguistics (statement analysis) expert Peter Hyatt . His analysis found an embedded confession in the McCann's statements.
