I keep seeing folks say that the NYPD kept the contents of Weiner's laptop.
Where is this info coming from? Is there a real NYPD source for this?
Because I think this cannot be true.
The NYPD unit that would be involved in this would be the one that handles sex crimes, the Special Victims Unit. Is there any reason that the NYPD Special Victims Unit would have top level national security clearance?
Because the FBI warrant said the laptop would be seized and that the reason was there was probable cause the laptop contained contraband, aka classified information. Now one of the things the FBI does in a case like this in addition to determining if the mishandling of documents rises to the level of a crime is to retrieve and properly store the contraband. You can just leave copies of classified information out there.
The search warrant mentions that classified info may only be shared with people with a need to know. I don't think anyone on the NYPD Special Victims Unit has a need to know since they are not even federal employees. In fact the warrant says that any classified informaton would be "owned by the US government."

At the very end of the warrant, we have this
If the Government determines that the Subject Laptop is no longer necessary to retrieve and preserve the data on the device, and that the Subject Laptop is not subject to seizure pursuant to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 41( c ), the Government will return the Subject
Laptop.
So it's possible they could give the laptop back at some point, but if the NYPD wanted it, they would need their own warrant.
Also NYPD doesn't have jurisdiction in this case. The girl was in North Carolina. This cross state lines which is why is being handled by the US district attorney and not the NY County district attorney.
So there's no reason for the NYPD to have any of this material, it seems to me......so why do some many believe believe they have it? Seems like wishful thinking.

Weiner is being investigated for sexting a minor! In NY. So of course the NYPD would have access to his laptop. They asked for and received a warrant for all of Weiner's electronics. Weiner just happened to have all that sick crap on a laptop that was seized.

That not shit though, 9/10 people I know sexted somebody they didn't know the real age. Either pizzagate starts doing real inveestigations or I start doxing you faggots and you can see how it feels.

"That not shit though", it though might be. Your association with reckless people is not a convincing argument for your skill in discerning "real inveestigations" either. Your efforts might be better spent learning basic grammer, or at least spell checker, before trying to tackle logical arguments. (Pro tip: Most productive criticism will not include off topic references to sexual prefrences)

"muh spelling dick" fucking nigger
EnragedSnail ago
Better, but since the topic dose not pertain to race, this is still considered a less than productive argument.

No the topic revolves around proof you fucking retard, not circumstantial evidence that you can do to anybody.

Was unaware that the age of the person he was sexting was disputed. If that is the case, fair enough, but his decision to interact with a child in a sexual manner, weather he thought she was "old enough" or not is in fact illegal. That even a local leader would enable, ignore, or excuse his actions is proof of a problem. He has already been proven to be a criminal.

The optimal age for conception is actually around 15 years old and why people have been so stigmatized on their own mammal. Illegal or not, everybody at one point in time is attracted to this age group, for some it never ends.

Desire is not a justification for breaking the law. If this law is so damaging, then speak out publicly to get it changed (I whole heartedly disagree with you that their could be any reasonable excuse for his actions), he has every right to challenge a law, but breaking it due to his lack of self control is inexcusable.

Desire to reproduce but that is at 14 years old, why would any 14 year old be attracted to a 14 year old? Are they pedophiles? Why would puberty come 4 years before it is needed?
EnragedSnail ago
I am not arguing the biology of it, I am simply looking at the laws I am required to abide by and expecting the same adherence by those who create and enforce them.

Obviously these people are attracted to these younger people, what changes?
oneposteach ago
Studies show a majority of the population has sex before 18 years old, how is it everyone is a pedophile?

The law is the law, he can argue to change it, but to break it just because you do not agree with it is not a defence to shield a person from the legal consequences. We are not a nation led by the people if those that enforce the laws break the ones they dislike while leaving ordinary citizens to be constrained by those laws. The public deserves a say in what we as a society will allow and what we will not. It boils down to he broke the law. There is nothing circumstantial or grey area about that, just like my empatientce is not going to get me out of a speeding ticket even though no one may have been hurt and the speed limit in that area may need to be reevaluated, or I may have really wanted to get home so bad I couldn't help myself, his lack of self control is not an escape from the legal consequences.
