What is the link between genital herpes and oral herpes (cold sores on the mouth)?
Oral herpes (such as cold sores or fever blisters on or around the mouth) is usually caused by HSV-1. Most people are infected with HSV-1 during childhood from non-sexual contact. For example, people can get infected from a kiss from a relative or friend with oral herpes. More than half of the population in the U.S. has HSV-1, even if they don’t show any signs or symptoms. HSV-1 can also be spread from the mouth to the genitals through oral sex. This is why some cases of genital herpes are caused by HSV-1.

when children are raped they are exposed to every std the rapist has been in contact with and every std the rapists sexual partners have been in contact with and they will go untreated because the rapist cant explain the childs sudden exposure to an std and the children dont normally disclose to anybody that they have been raped

What does this have to do with PG?
Children break out after their first exposure to HSV-1 because they have no antibodies After the initial outbreak, subsequent outbreaks are less severe.
Both viruses can occur anywhere on the body there is a nerve ending, ergo -2 occurs in the mouth and -1 occurs on the genitals.
About 90% of the U.S. population has been exposed to -1. Fewer have been exposed to -2. Usually the immune system keeps it at bay most of the time, but periods of stress, sunlight, menstruation, and ingestion of L-arginine are known triggers.
It is a lifelong condition; there is no cure for herpes.

With PG... It just takes only one pizza raper to infect the virus. I guess the OP is referring to the commonity of the virus as a symptom of sexual abuse (instead of having only friendly family kisses). I'd say loosely related, and as a theory, should not be downvoated so hard at least (currently at -7)

there are many different types of herpes and some aren't as "bad" or "abnormal" as we usually think. I had them a couple times as a kid and never had any strange things happen to me. they can be passed by a lot of really innocuous activities like drinking after someone else, anything you put near your mouth(phones, toys, etc)... now, they're does exist strains of the herpes virus that are only transferred through sexual contact and those are def something to investigate.

It's weird to me that children mysteriously get herpes sores on their mouth.

It's not a "mystery." They are exposed to a virus to which they have no antibodies. After exposure, antibodies are built up.

Isn't hand mouth and foot desease a herpe?
MyNameIsLuka ago
Hand foot and mouth presents differently than herpes. I believe hf&m is enterovirus (sp) and not herpes.
palmitespo910 ago
Yes yes yes I think so too.

Maybe you are missing my point. I think it's really odd that children just get herpes from nowhere, yet their form of oral herpes can be transmitted to adults in genital presentation.
palmitespo910 ago
Well, I mean if we can entertain the notion that a kiss from a family member can give HSM-1 to the child, then we can entertain that the child can now transmit to a new adult, no? Giving that adult, now, the chance to transmit HSM-1 to a partner during oral sex? That's about the best I'd be able to come up with. Keep in mind that I am not a herpes expert.

It's not from "nowhere." The virus is ubiquitous in the population. Children/Infants break out after exposure.
