My god, what a bunch of u-substitution. Do you complete the square, then use the Pythagorean identity, then integrate cosine, or do you factor out an x before distributing the exponent then use chain rule? Either way requires u-substitution.

No, I want to be able to explain this to you, but first we gotta get through the basics. You can do enough algebra to punch something into Wolfram (and I really appreciate your buddy pointing that out, btw), but a problem arises when I give you a difficult to format infinite exponential. It's a simple problem, but it catches people because of that.
