The story is that there was a Texas Chainsaw Massacre-type of family from rural Virginia with a family outpost in Maryland. They were known for kidnapping and raping little girls. Several of them have been convicted of other crimes against children. The currently living family members are now all pointing fingers at each other.

The story is that one of them was seen talking to the girls at the mall right before they disappeared. I have happened to notice that Bedford is ALWAYS in the news for child pornography and frequently for child molestation. This is not the case for the surrounding areas. I can tell you that not many people live there and there isn't much of a reason to drive through it. It's not en route to anything important.
