says a person who has never wrangled a child...or two in diapers. Yes, it's a way to carry a kid, however what is NOT normal is to sexualize it. That's fucked up.
This. Terry Richardson is a sick freak, but millions of parents hold their babies this way when they are this young, it's really hard not to when they're so damn hyper and flailing around. They're wearing diapers that are very thick, you can't even feel anything unless you're actually going out of your way to. This is so common it's exactly why this sicko can do this and not fear backlash.
Source: Parent who has raised 3 children, plus baby sitting countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
It's so strange but I've heard 3 exact arguments of this wording and I have had children.. it seems scripted.. 3 different people using the words hyper and wiggly.. almost as if the argument were scripted.. like when the popes security guard lifted the 4 year old girl by her crotch to kiss the pope, exact same argument "that's a common way to hold a child" and it may be to some extent, but still seems a stale argument in the light of the context
Or - and this may sound crazy, but hear me out - maybe, just maybe, there aren't a whole lot of different and common words to chose from when you're trying to describe what a baby/toddler does when you hold them?
edit: I don't even see where you're seeing three different people saying this, I think you're confusing my 3 comments (where I essentially copied and pasted the same comment) as 3 different people.
Learn to read. I didn't make three different accounts, I posted (more or less) my same comment to 3 different people. And I did it because several people are making blanket statements that aren't true, and spreading misinformation is bad, so I'm trying to help prevent it.
LOL hard to get a grip on the little fucker init? When I see people make blanket statements like that...I know they have never, ever, held a wiggling diapered kid. I've had a kid on my hip since I was seven. I don't have much hip. I got my favorite darling trained to grip with his legs...otherwise he's gonna slide off. That's in facing hip carry...he now props his legs around me like scissors cause he knows poor auntie has no shelf and he's either gonna slide off, or hang on for dear life. He's got that sorted. It's actually easier to carry front facing crotch grab cause if I prop him on my hip I can put my arm across his chest/crotch and hold onto his thigh. If I put him infacing on my hip he is automatic legs out around and gripping like he's on a pony...he can feel the slide! He's so damn precious and smart! It blows my mind the things that people sexualize and you wonder WTF is in their heads..how can any adult look at baby bits and feel anything but "oh hell, he's got poop there again?" it's mind numbing.
Yes! Sometimes I forget there are members on here who have never had a kid or baby sat one long enough. They are going to be really surprised one day, they will learn just how much effort it can take to carry a baby. I remember my brother telling me I was over reacting with my first kid. One day he watched my son for me while I shopped. I came back home, he said "Okay, you were right, this baby is like jello!" He had almost dropped my baby several times.
THE HIP CARRY! God am I glad to be over that stage, my youngest LOVED to do that and I hated it because, he liked to wiggle until he could "slide" off of me, thinking it was sooo funny. Like you said, it's so much easier to do the crotch/thigh carry, that way they can flail around all they want and I don't have to fear that they're about to slide off or jump out of my arms and knock themselves out!
I don't get how anyone can do awful things to a child either. It breaks my heart. I've cried reading these stories. I feel guilty whenever I yell at my children, I just can't even begin to comprehend how some people go much further than that. :(
I know. It's kind of sad really because back in the day people had experience taking care of children. Now they depend on "the best mommy boards." I had to "rescue" the gal I'm mentoring AGAIN...she's in a panic over the snowsuit car seat controversy...it took some time to undo that asshattery. I was like OMGFUCKING GOD who loosens the car seat...that's the thing, people are so stupid that they do things and then there has to be made a law...literally stupid people are why we have warnings on buckets, and dry cleaning bags. WHO NEEDS a warning?
I should probably never be given any public leadership job. The first thing I'd do is mandate reversible, but permanent tube clamping on all newborns if a way can be found to do it without too much invasion. Then if a person wants to reproduce they need to go through a vetting process and prove they are actually fit to become a parent, both intellectually and physical care wise. I could do away with stupid people in about 50 years that way...and end child abuse...and rampant breeding and child poverty.
Sigh....I know, I know...never let me become dictator of the free world. I've seen so many horrific things happening to children...that making sure people cannot have them unless that child will be loved and not subject to any forms of abuse...that's more important than an adult's unbridled "right" to reproduce and fuck up another human for life.
Children are the only members of our society who never have a choice. Adults always have a choice unless they've got a gun held to their heads. Stands to reason then...children are a priority.
I was telling my "mentored mom" today...scary world out there, don't be a stupid "best mom". Never leave your child in sunday school, daycare, or church nursery, never leave them anywhere you do not know 100% that child is not going to be abused. Churches are havens for these assholes. Boy Scouts? Ah...not..maybe depending...athletic coaches? FUCK...keep sports and coaching on the field, no field trips,NO overnights...(my soccer coach ended up being a very famous serial rapist...for reals...and oddly my parents NEVER let me participate in team activities off the soccer field.) If you're gonna have them, raise them yourself. That's all. Our culture of handing our kids over to someone else to raise=fucked up kids as we see the first daycare generation aka Millennials/Snowflakes...hitting the streets. It's insanity.
Dear people, abusers are kind, friendly helpful, and fun. They ingratiate themselves to get access. Single moms with kids...stop bringing your boyfriends home....FUCKING EVER> Just stop it. There are men who HUNT women with kids, they just do. So put your kids a priority and keep men away from your kids until they are old enough to defend themselves. Jaysus how many stepkids get kiddie fucked over this? Too many. Of all the things that makes my brain explode is women giving their "dates" access to their kids.
Sorry rant over. I hate seeing ignorant blanket statements. They devalue real issues. What I read on the Tribe when we were digging into that here...scared the shit out of me. When I have that baby out with me fucking no one touches it. I don't let anyone coo, touch, or even look. I wear him or now leash him. He sits in the grocery cart, he is CLIPPED to the cart. I mentored this mom to contact=normal. Not stash the kid in a tote car seat and haul him around in that. In fact Oz has made those types of seats illegal because ...stupid people using them. Just in the last month I could have walked off with three babies..cause their stupid ass moms sat that seat down and walked off...they sit it in a grocery cart...all you have to do is lift it and walk off...with 800k children going missing every year in the US alone...sadly if people cannot stop using them I can see them eventually being illegal in the US as well. Wear the baby. It's what our ancestors did, it natural, normal and the absolute safest way for baby. (except if you're too stupid to learn to use the carriers correctly...which sadly has happened.)
What's fucked up is this sick fuck Terry Richardson, you stupid piece of shit. Are you the least bit worried that a guy who fucks sheep gets to adopt children ? Oh.. it must be OK because he is famous and knows Obama.
I did not say that HE was not fucked up. But putting a blanket statement on a valid way of toting a baby, is fucked up. What are you trying to do turn millions of people into pedos? Stop using blanket statements. It invalidates real data.
You fucking retard never had kids and have zero idea of how to carry them, because if you did you'd know front facing crotch carry when you're wrangling a heavily diapered child is not fucking child abuse. Unlike YOU, most people do not sexualize the crotch of a child. Next thing you're going to state as fact is that diaper changing and OMG touching/wiping/cleaning the poopy is child abuse. Grow the fuck up.
No really man. I've seen a lot of parents hold their kids in weird ways temporarily. Now would I suggest that posing for a picture while holding two kids by the crotch and wearing a blue velvet t-shirt is normal? Fuck no I would not. But I'm pretty sure crotch holding a baby in a diaper is something that happens with decent regularity, especially when you have more than one kid. But I would never think anyone would take a picture that way.
Like I said the overall picture is definitely not appropriate. But the crotch hold is a pretty standard parental maneuver in general. Don't forget, if you aren't a pedophile and you aren't a pizzagate researcher there is A LOT LESS sexuallity attached to infants. Most parents would never even think about the fact that grabbing their babies crotch could be misconstrued as sexual because it is so far outside of the way their world works. Infants arent sexual and have nothing to do with sex in their minds and that's normal.
What don't you get about the fact that I'm not defending this guy just pointing out that other people holding babies like this may well just be normal people.
AND I'm telling you that making an issue of they way he's holding them is stupid and fucking retarded. If he's a pedo HE probably gets more pedo mileage out of poopy diapers. Jaysus, can't wait to tell my friend next time I hip/crotch tote her kid that I'm now a pedo and so is she. Fucktard.
Wow this will not help if people are not sensible. For anyone who has extensive experience caring for babies this is quite common in no one would even notice. Everyone is very sensitive right now because powerful people are seemingly not doing anything.Lets just point out the truth and archive.

But there are people who are so stupid they have to be told not to fill a baby bottle with soda or juice..so it seems easiest to tell the modern stupid moms not to give their babies anything but breastmilk or formula.
Jaysus fucking H. christ. I made up a bottle with 2 tabs of distilled and the baby sucked it down so fast. Child abuse...for giving the baby water. Stay away from the mommy boards, they are literally cesspools of stupid.
