Just for the record, as a progressive, I totally disavow David Brock and his propagandist, lying, thieving, grotesque band of thugs and pedophiles. The "progressive" movement has nothing to do with him, though he is clearly trying to co-opt the word. He is a menace to all that is good about humanity! There are millions like me, who want this vile creature to disappear down the sewer whence he came.

You're not nearly ashamed enough if you still find yourself on that side. Your belief in the power of the state is what makes abuse possible. How anyone can defend the Obama or Clinton administrations is just baffling

you're shooting from the hip. you can be a small government progressive. You havent stopped to figure out what sandy008 means by progressive

And at the end of the day, both left and right have uglier instincts we both need reminding of. Right-Hitler Left-Stalin

Neither Left nor Right will eternally have the moral ascendancy, and over decades those who were once in the right will slowly then suddenly be in the wrong. And that will be no different for the current resurgence of the Right. Enjoy your moment in the sun, but in the years to come, remember to guard against your own excesses

I don't think the 'right' is enjoying its moment in the sun, it's the American people right? Who needs parties. It's just divide and conquer. Both have been warmongers, both are scared of the banksters.

“The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ‘throw the rascals out’ at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy.” (Georgetown University Professor Carroll Quigley, Tragedy and Hope, 1966.)

If you mean that there is only one war: the class war, and that all other conflicts are diversions from that then i totally agree with you. That said, there are dualities in life that persist: individuality vs common good, co-operation vs competition, etc, and these will find their form in movements subject to growth and entropy

Yes.

If you mean that there is only one war: the class war, and that all other conflicts are diversions from that then i totally agree with you.

The second part of your statement yes also, this is what Calvin called original sin, total depravity. I'm a puritan extremist :)
