Voat isn't a safe space, it's a free-speech space. Practice proper opsec so you don't get doxed, and ignore people who scream useless obscenities, or otherwise try to get under your skin. Focus on constructive conversation instead. Pseudonymity is what continues to allow conversation to take place. Centralizing with "trusted" people is dangerous.

Edit: Also, watch out for people using the word "dangerous" in general, come to think of it. There is nothing dangerous about thinking and investigating. After all, don't police like to say "if you've got nothing to hide..."?

Deny Disrupt Degrade Deceive, Destroy, Protect - That is the Motto of JTRIG https://theintercept.com/2014/02/24/jtrig-manipulation/

If you dig the rabbithole of PSYOP long enough, you will read books of 1968 activists and their story how their group got infiltrated and destroyed, released 1944 military material on how to support the résistance and unhappy citizens in the Nazi Regime, and how to most efficiently sabotage.

The methods are surprisingly easy. provoke emotional reactions, reduce efficiency of the action to sabotage by sheer volume, by distraction, by releasing misinformation or by corrupting sources of information. As you said be suspicious of people declaring things. Be suspicious of people that want to stick to the manual at all costs. Be suspicious of people that say we have to stop for what reason ever. the stop is one of the hugest red flags. You cant identify them by age of account, they are better than that.

The best method to block their efforts I yet found is forcing constructive dialogue at all costs, and keeping your emotions under control. Ignore insults, and provocative language and statements, be constructive and promote open dialogue. They can only spread misinformation in a climate of this. And we are enough people to dismantle red herrings.

sorry if I abuse your post to promote that, but it is important to inform as many people as possible to not be gullible about their interactions.
