i've seen bands loading equipment in through the back door. I have never been an admin anywhere.

olive611 ago

Was just on the comet ping pong facebook. it's being flooded with 5 star reviews to cancel out the trolling. i'm sure mr. alefantis is loving some of the comments though - "i think i tasted a 6 year old on my pizza."

Truthseeker77 ago

Having worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, mind you never in a pizza joint, it's been my experience that restaurant employees seem to bond a family type relationship. Those who stay with a business for a long time usually form friendships outside the restaurant. Also, those employees that don't fit into the family don't stay long. Restaurants are notorious for high turn around. I'm interested to know the turn around rate for employees at CPP. Those who have been there a long time probably fit into the family. I want to hear from those who didn't stay.

We really need someone to get behind those curtains with a camera quickly. In my opinion, time is running out and every bit of evidence we have could be removed. All it would take is 1 person unarmed, to run back there behind the curtains while filming. Sure, you will probably cause a stir, but that's the best way for us to know for sure. This needs to happen now.

oldskeptic ago

With a day off, he should get someone to fix that hole in the restroom floor.

What responsible business owner would allow that kind of hazard to persist?

olive611 ago

any inspector would fine them for that - definitely a hazard. i know they are supposed to be going for a hipster industrial look, but it seems like they just don't give a shit. which makes it look even more like a front.

oldskeptic ago

Before he opened it as Comet, he spent a year and a half making that place look like Sanford and Son 2.0.

Guess it took awhile to get all that scrap metal hung from the ceiling.

You're darn tootin' it's a front. You, me, or anyone who knows what retail business is like can see it.

WOW, this is good stuff. Wish there was a way to bump this to the top.

So where did the men go? Where did the two Slavic-looking girls go? I don't remember the couple mentioning they came out? Only that they came out, played Foosball, and then went back inside? And if there's nothing back there ... why would anyone go back there?

pizzathrowaway ago

There is a back exit.

oldskeptic ago

An older comment mentioned the back door had a keypad and a hole where the doorknob was.

Warnos44 ago

I completely thought the girl was going to say that the person investigating felt the accusations were unsubstantiated. Glad someone got the nerve up to go. The cameras are very bizarre, only focusing on the curtain (?) no where else?

thezodiac ago

Marked to watch later.

pizzahthrowaway ago

Wow the actual shots of the inside with the curtain are so sketch, this video is great! Needs more upvotes!

quantokitty ago

I agree. There should be a way to bump these really good posts to the top so they can't be lost in the swamp.

Comet has a private party room that opens to the parking lot. They use it as the green room for a band playing the main space and for smaller bands to play. This is from a NYC band that was playing there.

I’m excited to officially announce the first of hopefully many shows in the back room of Comet Ping Pong. The management of Comet was kind enough to let us try out smaller scale shows with the DIY vibe you know and love in the back room, which typically serves as a private party room or the ~green room~ for bands playing the ~mainstage~.

  • ACCESSIBILITY: The space is 100% accessible via the back door which opens to the parking lot (which, btw, is free and safe to use!) Otherwise, we ask that you enter through Comet's usual entrances and head all the way back past the ping pong tables, where there are 5 stairs leading down the space.

So two underage girls are using it to get into the parking lot and to go to Bucks for dinner when they're underage and can't drive, but can afford to eat at Bucks? Then there's this little five-year-old. Yeah, the mother brings her in, doesn't feed her and keeps her up past 9:30 at night for no reason? I suppose. I would say that now that this is known, someone should stay in the car, while a couple goes inside. Take pictures of people that go back there. The person in the car, take photos or anyone leaving out the back way. See if the photos match up. If they don't, they're going elsewhere.

AreWeSure ago

You're reading an awful lot into what is somebody's speculation.

Anyway, the place has a back room that is open to public. Either to rent for a party or go to small shows there. And the evidence for that predates this mishigoss.

quantokitty ago

I'm not reading anything into it. I'm trying to figure out a way to debunk it by suggesting what to do. To me it seems logical to see if anything is there. If not, we can move on and not engage in speculation.

SIMONBARROW ago

The only people going behind the curtain (unless you specifically ask to) seem to be old men and little girls accompanied by women who might be but are probably not their mothers. Where do they go? They're clearly leaving in cars from the parking lot or going somewhere underground. If there's a back lane, a third possibility is that they're going to Buck's.

jaredfogle12345 ago

thanks, curious to see what's inside those two curtains. If James Alefantis wants to clear this up and retain his reputation, he needs to be transparent on all of this and let us know inch by inch of his restaurant.

As time goes by, there will be more and more cover up. He needs to do it ASAP. I hope the gun guy could disclose what he saw inside.

This post violates rule 7. Please delete and resubmit using the "discuss" button on the right, and please provide a short summary of the contents. Thanks!

quantokitty ago

We are discussing this. Why the interest in having this taken down?

Crensch ago

The previous rule 7 and 8 was simply that videos needed to be posted in the body of a "discuss" link with an ELI5 as to why it was linked.

The content and subject matter is fine, but SOME ELI5-type summary of why it's linked is necessary. This post now complies with the (revised and number-changed) rule 4, so it can stay. Thank you for keeping an eye on us mods. We're here to help clean the place up, and we make mistakes sometimes - people like you help keep us in line.

Crensch ago

Rule 8, sorry.

thellama01 ago

There is literally no rule eight, it goes from 7 to 9

Crensch ago

The one about video posts - had a change to the sidebar without me knowing. Should be 7 now.

Yates ago

I don't see rule 8 on the sidebar

Crensch ago

It's 7 now. Had some changes to the sidebar that were not correct. The one about video posts.

sentryseven ago

This is extraordinary testimony if true. Incredible.

Ziggystrife ago

*Meant to post this here. Wow great find and great post from the Youtuber. Thanks! Makes no sense why a gunman would walk in, see one room, and then decide to give himself up peacefully instead of I don't know, doing what he was supposedly there to do, and investigate every crevice?

SIMONBARROW ago

Well, he was supposedly inside the building for 45 minutes before the police escorted him away.

Ziggystrife ago

Probably standing there tapping his feet waiting for his police escort to arrive.

TruthTrumps ago

Hard to believe they'd be up to business as usual when they know they're being watched.

Nana66 ago

I was thinking the gunman incident will be an excuse for heavy security.

SIMONBARROW ago

It is hard to believe, but I'd say they think they have this completely under control (and they probably do).
