This is being completely misinterpreted by alarmists. Not that I trust the NYT at all, but this article is not saying child molestation is not a heinous crime. It is based on the modern consensus in the American Psychological Association that pedophilia is innate (people are born with it). That doesn't mean child molestation isn't a crime, and it doesn't in any way justify child molestation, nor does it even mean that all child molestors have innate pedophilia. This is the kind of alarmist disinformation that will get us branded a bunch of lunatics.
