How safe is voat? Want to make sure this doesn't happen again. (pizzagate)

So I am guessing a lot of us are here because of what's happening at /r/pizzagate. It's funny, every time I check out voat it's because of some weird censorship shit on reddit. Maybe that should tell me something. I think it might be time to make the switch for good. My concern is this: what's to stop voat admins from doing the same thing reddit admins are doing now, even if in the future? Is this the final refuge? Are there other places like this that can serve as a backup or plan B (like this was for reddit)?

I don't know. I'm new to voat myself. We need to dump what we can. If we keep having to move private forums would be the way to go

I've had an account for a year and a half but as you can see I haven't used it much. I think that's about to change.
