How I came to Voat (5.5 years ago) (introductions)

About five-and-a-half years ago, I was living overseas: unemployed; depressed; alone; fat and unhealthy and; completely lost.

I came to Reddit very late, mostly because I was looking for interaction with Anglophones closer to my age, even if that was online. And because I was having issues with my father, I gravitated to a subverse about narcissistic parents.

Everything was cool for a week or so, but over the proceeding two weeks, I started to notice what seemed like a “party-line”, or even, “absoluteness”. I felt that it was a little unfair that the advice always seemed to be “cut contact with your parent/s”.

What broke the camel’s back was a reply to a comment on a post. The post was a younger woman who was having a hard time with her parents and thought maybe they were narcissistic. Not a long or detailed post, but all (almost all) the comments were “no contact”. One guy pointed-out what I didn’t have the guts too. Essentially “I can’t put my finger on it, but maybe the members of subverse are a little off or not helpful”. He expressed into words (better than what I've written just now) what I was thinking.

The inevitable reply was extremely passive-aggressive, “sweetie, are you okay? Whatever do you mean”… that sort of shit.

Shortly after, FPH was banned and I followed them to Voat.

I was extremely sensitive coming to Voat, but freedom overthrew any other fears I had. For example, I cringed when people said “faggot”, felt bad for niggers and even blocked FPH.

(On that last one, I eventually unblocked it and the verse motivated me to build up).

So, this is to say thank you to that one guy who had the balls to stand-up to the passive-aggressive cows on Reddit and to influence the life of one man, for the better, forever.

And thanks to all you homos for being there for me.

This is my first post ever on voat and it's an important one. I've been lurking and learning an insane amount from everyone here since early 2016. I've spend the last 2 hours backing up all the voat threads that I've added to my favorites since I first found voat. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart and I truly hope we can all find a place for us similar to this one.

Now for the important stuff.

Can you all share in this thread, as many threads packed with red pills as possible? Any and every piece of info (Race realism, Gender, Jews, History, Nutrition, Soy, Conspiracies, etc etc. ANYTHING AT ALL) is welcomed. I'm trying to save as much as possible before this ship sinks.

Please help me with this request since it's going to be a long while before we'll have access to such well written, thought-out, and organized threads full of Redpills.

I wish I knew what happened to me. I knew r/niggers existed but didnt care. In December 2014 I suddenly ended up there when it was called coontown. It was everything I needed. I didn't realise how much I was starting to hate niggers. As soon as they banned coontown i joined voat.

When you realize it is all lies - Trayvon on down, you look at your blue pilled peers like clowns. I havent been able to talk to any of them ever since.

Thank you. It's something I've been meaning to share for a while, so I knew I'd regret it if I never did.

I'm not too interested in the Voat experience so much now. Kind of like I've gotten in touch with myself again and need to head-out in the real world and be the man I can be, including being publicly outspoken.

That being said, I might stop by Atko's new project sometimes: https://20-things.com. Though, it does need a phone number, I think I can ghost it.

Wow, first Ive heard of atko's other project. Thanks for the heads up. I agree with you btw, this and similar sites can be time.consuming while the world passed us by in a blink, however I feel it is prudent to know what's going.on from time to.time. Unfiltered of course.

Yeah, Atko replied to an AskVoat regarding the closure, but it seemed to be under most people's radar... I had to double-check it actually was him.

Finding a compiler for unfiltered news like Voat will be next to impossible, I think. I guess I'll just have to stay cynical about news and research only what I think may be true (rather than doubtful). And as you've implied, it will be nice to have a bit more time for hobbies and, for me, to start a family.

Damn you guys, think about how many people's lives were changed by this place.

When I stumbled upon Voat, I was already hip to the JQ and had been researching the truth about everything for a decade or so, but I certainly leveled up in my time here, thanks to discussions and links. It's much easier for me to talk about this stuff with people in real life than it used to be... seems like more and more people are waking up. Maybe they've all been lurking voat. Ha.

I also yell about niggers a lot more in real life than I used to. Is this what they mean by people getting radicalized by the far-right?? Hahahahaha

Yeah, the one thing that has certainly changed for the better for me is that I'm more outspoken these days. I'm not sure if it has been the decline in Voat's traffic over the last year or so, and my need to let it all out.

In any case, I've seen people are more open these days, and there was one comment on Voat recently which encouraged me to be open in the real world.

That's what I'll be taking away from here. To be open in the real world, to speak my mind and encourage others to speak theirs.

I came to Voat about the same time in the wake of mass banning on Plebbit. Now that I think about it. I have been coming to Voat almost every day for all that time shunning that vast majority of the web. Now with 4chan filled with shills and glowies, I'm not sure what I will do as there is no real decent alternative. Time to focus on building something new.

I share the same sentiments. Even when this place was flooded with deplorable refugees after gamer gate bans, edgy alt-right fags that were deplatformed I still browsed almost daily.

It's been a really good filter for the 99% of shilling that is on pol, I'll surely miss this place.
