How about also making an automatic post to the specific sub about the request if it isn't immediately rejected: to notify that community directly... not just the subscribers?

I tried to cover that in my first edit (+1) regarding Owlchemy's suggestion from a diff post thread.

  1. A subverse request submission starts a visible countdown timer within the submission header, (c1) then its posted into the drop down of /v/all (+1) as well as being posted in the sidebar of its respective subverse.

Yes, however that seems like an over-engineered solution to me, given just sending an automated post should be sufficient, rather than having more mechanisms in the side-bar.

Atko and PuttItOut will be far more likely to act on suggestions that have fewer moving parts... given Voat isn't their main job.

I'm not sure how often people check or would notice a sidebar change, however users are far more likely to see regular post...

Edit: Perhaps make the post automatically become the sticky too?

I sorta feel that if your gonna do something, its probably better to do it right the first time. That does not invalidate your suggestion to trim the fat, as it were. this suggestion is a very wise one, although its good to know your options before you start reducing them.

I think there may be other people that help out in that department as well??? Idkfs.

Voat's power users that jumped on this issue through the /v/Space, /v/Niggers and /v/Canada mod replacements would have no problem finding and using the tools I have described. Also an upgrade ilke this would require a front page announcement from admin.

Edit: Perhaps make the post automatically become the sticky too?

This is a good idea provided there isn't already a crap mod in waiting to except a crap power mod. It would work if the sticky could not be turned off for the duration of the application processes.

I have also been thinking that a probation period of assessment for a new owner moderator is a reasonable angle to pursue.

I'm gonna do an edit link to your above thread post for refrence to your idea of simplification as it is part of the process, before handing it on to the wizards.

Thanks for your input to date @guinness2 mate.

Nah, I think if a mod has faked it long enough to worm his way into owning a sub, then they'd be willing to fake it a little longer during a probation period.

What may happen is the community may start throwing stones at the new owner because they don't like one of his older posts or they don't like that he's a relatively new user... however this will just muddy the waters because you can bet the cucks and CTR whores will create alts to Concern Troll and post objections about legitimate mods.

That's my humble opinion anyway...

Thanks for your input to date @guinness2 mate.

My pleasure.

Nah, I think if a mod has faked it long enough to worm his way into owning a sub, then they'd be willing to fake it a little longer during a probation period.

I was reading through the admin sticky today on /v/all, and got the distinct impression that, it doesn't matter how long an asshole reddit infiltrator waits to be cleared and excepted. If their objective is to stir the pot and create their own narrative without following the original rules of the subverse or including the original subscribers ideas. They are history. A preexisting subverse with no rules = voat's no post, comment or subscriber deletion or banning rules, until otherwise elected by its subscriber community.

So basically the order of influence from most important to least is... Voat.co's rule of free speech, then the user/subscribers, then the Admin and or then the subverse moderators.

If that looks/seems weird to you? Just remember that we are all user subscribers.

Just spoke with Owlchemy who had more great ideas regarding this that should be addressed. So it seems that there is still room for improvement.

Watch this post for updates.
