What would you use it for? self defense at home? every day carry? fun at the range? other? also, which one are you the most confortable shooting, most likely to hit your intended target (ok, it depends on the firearm, but a big fast bullet that misses is not nearly as effective as a smaller / slower one that hits...); do you care about cost? so many questions...
Well that's kind of my question. Assume you want a round that fits various different firearms used for different purposes. Which woukd you prefer between those two?
Here's my two cents: Why are you fixated on wanting to use the same round in multiple guns? A .44 mag in a rifle is going to fall short compared to a .30 caliber rifle, but that's a hell of a hand gun round that sucks to shoot a lot. I think you might be better served going for a good pistol that you like and shoot well, and then get a good rifle.
It is a matter of simplifying the number of different ammunition one must amass and having those rounds be multi-purpose. If SHTF, I'd rather have a lot of 4 different rounds useable over many different weapons rather than fewer rounds per weapon stored for many specific weapons each of which use different roundsp.
