Dude even Chilly posts and/or participates in user posted meta threads from time to time.

If it's about /r/gaming it's not fucking off-topic.

By your logic you'd ban @ChillyHellion himself .

@carlip raised a good point that /v/gaming's current subverse rules don't clearly define how the community handles meta posts. I've always allowed them with the interpretation that being /v/gaming related is enough to satisfy rule 1, but I think it's worth discussing as a community to find out exactly how meta posts should be handled moving forward:

should we allow them under the existing rule 1, make sure to explicitly allow meta posts as a separate rule, and what restrictions should that rule carry, if any?

We've done a lot to clarify the community rules to be specific and predictable as possible with minimal need for interpretation, but I think this criticism carries an opportunity to further improve how we communicate the community's wishes in the sidebar.

I'll make that the next community discussion post and maybe post it after this week's initial fervor has died down a bit.

I'm with you on Meta posts being allowed due to being /r/gaming related, not only that they're pretty much the only way for users to raise issue with moderator (not that it happens often here) without having to go directly through a moderator to create a meta-thread for them.

I'll make that the next community discussion post and maybe post it after this week's initial fervor has died down a bit.

I can't wait, community discussion posts are always fun.

Yeah, I think it's been a fair interpretation, but I'd rather it not be an interpretation at all. It should be an easy gray area to clear up and I know people appreciate having an honest say in how the mod team handles posts.

yeah shouldn't be much to just add an amendment permitting meta posts to rule 1.

After it's been thoroughly discussed with the community of course, just in case someone finds an issue with it.

Exactly :)
