100 CCP is yet again a requirement to downvote and changes I pushed yesterday are now reverted. I spent about 6 hours yesterday reading your comments on my announcement and I think it's pretty clear that majority of you had concerns with removing restrictions. Back to the drawing board I guess. Please accept my apologies for causing the mess.

Good point! Have voat buttons AND agree/disagree buttons. If there was garbage, downvoat, even if you press the agree button. Things can then be ranked on voats instead of controversy.

I don't think this would would work. I'm assuming the people massively downvoting somethings are either very opinionated on a subject or really don't like the comment in question. They'd downvote it so other people won't see it. The only reason it might work is that people would 'voice' the opinion through that new button. To be frank, I think it's become instinctive for some users to just downvote stuff they don't like.
Maybe there could be an algorithm that marks a comment as 'controversial' once it gets a certain ratio of votes, but still displays it.
