100 CCP is yet again a requirement to downvote and changes I pushed yesterday are now reverted. I spent about 6 hours yesterday reading your comments on my announcement and I think it's pretty clear that majority of you had concerns with removing restrictions. Back to the drawing board I guess. Please accept my apologies for causing the mess.

Atko, unlike reddit actually listened to what we wanted. And for that I thank you.

The sad part is that this is unusual and not the default state. I have been online for a very, very long time - since BBS days and 900 baud modems (even 300 buad! And we liked it!) and, really, I had higher hopes for this creation. The monetization, an important step, has had some impacts that I do not appreciate. I would have preferred it go another way but all I can say is that I tried. I still keep a few CoLo servers in Michigan and give out space to worthy projects as time permits but, frankly, this stuff is expensive and needs to be paid for somehow and the users lost interest in paying. The quality of the content may be the reason, I am not really sure why.
Either way, I am glad that this choice was made. I was not sure what it would lead to.

A site that listens to its users and content creators will survive. One that listens to the advertisers and ignores its content creators, however...

Hey now, reddit still listens to what putin wants. That counts for something...

Hey, Reddit also listens to the no-income, no-ad-revenue-generating Tumblerinas that ruined the place to begin with.

Actually those kinds of people are the most profitable.

And how is that again? I working with, among other things, estimating market sizes. College women in liberal fields aren't a microsegment that's up there, at least not in the markets I've seen estimates for. In fact, they tend to be the worst segment in their macro-demography as there's a small l/t potential for brand loyalty due to low prognosis for lifetime income.

Did you not hear about Reddit complying with the Russian government to block certain subs in Russia?

You can't hold your leaders accountable until you learn to hold YOURSELVES accountable by putting your own views under public scrutiny.
