Edit:
We are done with the major work. Now we just need to see how it goes.
This evening around 5PM Pacific we will be doing a few things that will require taking Voat down for an hour or two.
We are going to scale down some hardware as we think we’ve found one of the current issues with some higher CPU usage (this has been our holdup on not doing this sooner) as well as adjust some indexes on the database.
Let’s all cross our fingers that we can scale down Voat without a negative result, and if we do see a negative result we will fix it because that’s what goats do. The road may be a bit bumpy but we will get there.
These changes are being done to make room in our budget to bring up the new Voat code base (aka The Port) so we can start testing. While re-coding Voat to run on Open Source platforms we have refactored some larger areas in the code base that lay the framework for some really cool things going forward such as distribution and scaling. We are very excited to get this code in play as soon as possible as it means we can start implementing some of these larger enterprise features as well as new features we need such as "Voats" (Hmm... What could this mean?)
Also, I apologize for my drive by presence as I have real life things going on right now that require my time, such as moving. Moving is horrible. Needless to say, I am now a minimalist. On a personal note, I had 6 desktops computers and 2 4U servers I kept around for no reason at all, what is up with that?
Question: What should I do with old hard drives? Shred?

Whenever I see a "Voat is under heavy load or we're fixing something" I always react positively, because it's a very obvious signal that something's happening and you're working on improving the platform.

I wish I felt that way. I usually have a recoverable stroke.

I'm sorry to hear that. But have you thought of the 22 million that would be uninsured under Trumpcare? Or the number of minorities that are beaten due to hateful rhetoric from people like Trump supporters who frequent this site? Have you thought of all of the people suffering under Donald Trump as president? Your website is a breeding ground of hate and fake news, so while you are recovering from your strokes, you should consider the anguish that the hateful people of Voat have put people through. I have suffered plenty of mental stress from having people repeatedly insult my heritage by calling me a kike, and by posting hateful messages against Jews day in and day out. If you recall, I mentioned giving @NeedleStack a temporary ban in the past - perhaps it would be best to shut Voat down for a few days, close the hateful subverses such as v/niggers, v/RidersoftheReich, v/ProtectVoat, and so on. Then, advertisers would flock to your site, and your health, friendships, and hobbies would not be in jeopardy. But if you continue to cater to this hateful audience, my team and I will not rest until Voat is known as a hate site on par with Stormfront far and wide. It will only be a matter of time before Voat is blacklisted from libraries and universities if it goes down its current path, and I will be proud to known that I have helped keep America safe from the racist white men on Voat.
Until then, take care, and examine your options carefully, @PuttItOut. I hope you make the right decision - for your own sake.
Edit: Take care of @Trigglypuff and @kevdude as well. They spout actual Nazi rhetoric, and have harassed me numerous times. If you value your livelihood, I suggest you comply with my demands.
